This was recently told to my husband by his step-mother (ironically on the exact day that we conceived!). They were kind of feuding (correction, she was feuding with him and being ultra controlling) and having kids came up. FOR SOME REASON she told him, "And if you ever get pregnant, please don't tell us until you're like 6 months in. Don't want to know."

WHAT THE FRAP IS THAT?!?!?! Who says that?? Why would anyone say that? Like good lord woman, you treat us like we're 15-year old kids and just found out we're having unprotected sex or something! Like we don't have jobs, a house, cars, a wonderful marriage and would make great parents?

She sounds like the evil step-mom from hell, but she's been in DH's life for 15 years. You'd think by now she'd have some type of love in her cold ice heart at the prospect of a grandchild. I really hope none of you are going through this crap.

Ignore her as much as possible. I've heard a lot of mean things in all my pregnancies from family and everything and at first it bothered me so much I got myself sick from it. Now I could care less what people have to say. It's your life and your husbands life. She's just another person with an opinion. I'm guessing she don't know you're pregnant but when she does find out and maybe has a hissy fit your husband can remind her of her cold hearted words. I mean, what's it to her anyway if you're pregnant and she finds out before you hit 6 months?? I don't get it either. Pointless thing to say and probably said to upset your husband if they were arguing at the time.

Yes! And what's it to her if I'm pregnant, PERIOD? Like oh my gosh woman, why do you care so much? It makes absolutely no sense. We are two very responsible, mature adults and it's like we're 15 years old and TTC our first or something!

Don't tell her but flaunt your bump as much as possible. Heck, I would wear a belly shirt just to make her mad!

ha.... i have a SIL JUST LIKE THIS!!!

ironically if u didnt tell her before 6 months i bet she'd be pissed!!!!

my sil told my dh he was stupid for getting me pregnant...

mind u were married have an investment property portfolio be built together aswell as our home and are happily married and have three step children who are super happy for us to be having another baby....

dont worry about it .... sorry for the rudeness but FUK HER! lol

your life,,, as long as u and dh are happy thats what matters!
congrats on your BFP!

Yes! She would be so mad!! It would be hilarious if we told everyone but made sure they didn't let the news out, and then at 6 months tell her. "Oh yeah, we told everyone like 3 months ago. We didn't tell you until now because you told us not to???" LOL. Now I'm just being evil.

hahaha the best part is if u choose to be evil and not tell her or tell her how rude she was u can blame hormones! lol

Get used to it or set her straight now. It will only get worse after lo is here. Sometimes I think my mil is from another planet or something with the things she says or suggests.

My MIL told us not to have a baby before she turns 60 as she doesn't want to be a grandma in her 50's. Well she's 55 and cried with joy when my DH told her I was pg. I still hate her but it shows that reality can sometimes change people.

I WANT to say you could tell everyone but her, but since you are bringing their granddaughter into the world, all that, I'd say you should treat her as well as you can (as you'd want to be treated, etc) and just try to let the bad slide right of of you. Makes everyone at least see that you are a better mother (of any kind!) than her (though never say it, ha ha). OR just spend as little time as humanly possible with her :D
