We want a little boy called max but all my family are saying its too short but i cant think of a double barrelled name that goes with max and changing max isnt an option because other half loves it :) lol xxx

What about Maxie? and just using Max. Maxie also goes with things like Maxie-James :) However if you and your OH love the name Max, use it! He is your Son so don't worry about what anyone else thinks :) xx

Thanks for the idea :) ill have to sugget it to OH cos i quite like it lol :) xxxx

Just stick with Max if you love it! How about Maxwell but then just shorten it? My mum dosn't like my little girls name but i don't care!

I agree with Maxie (: or you could just have his full first name be Maximillion (spelling?) and be Max for short. But that might be too many syllables for your taste(:

Oh! Or i just thought of maybe Malcom or Mackenzie where the nickname would usually be "Mack" but you could use the nickname Macks/ Max instead(:

I agree with Jess, Maxie-James is too cute! :flower:

If LO was a boy, for a while name would've been Max, not Maxwell just because surname is Spall so it sounded a little funny.
OH loved Maximo though!:haha:

I tjink double barrelled boys names are quite feminine but ive never met a double barreled named boy.

How about;
Maximus
Maxson
Jamaxx
Raymax
Maxzimo

Good luck hun x

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions i guess me and OH will have to decide lol , still got 20 weeks anyway so still some time
To go lol :) xx

If Max is the name you love then go with it. There's nothing wrong with a one syllable name.

My little guy is just gonna be Max hun, a few people have assumed its short for Maxwell or Maximillion but it's not at all :) He's your baby, and if you love that name then go for it! x

I love Max, & will add Maxim to all the other suggestions you've had.

As a child with a long name that was always shorted I can tell you this-
The benefit of just being Max: It is easy to spell & easy to write (great for boys!)
You don't have to explain to every new teacher that "It's just Max miss" when they try to call you Maximillion & you cringe as all your friends giggle because they know you go by Max etc

I am deliberately going for a name where he will be called by his full name all the time rather than a nickname, but that is fairly short so he can learn to spell & write it easily, for those exact reasons.

If you like Max, go for it!

xxx

I love the name Max and think it sounds fab on its own without being double barrelled xx

Maximilian!

My parents and my husband's parents disapproved of my son's name, Malachi, but Malachi loves his name.

Your instincts are better than your parents' as to which names sound good to the modern ear. Names and name sounds go through cycles. Generally, names from our own generation seem boring, names from our parents' generation sound fusty, and names from our grandparents' generation sound old and horrible. But we generally don't know too many people older than that, so names popular during our great-grandparents' generation sound good again - to us. But not to our parents, because they associate those names with their grandparents.

Thanks girls i am going to stick with Max :) when i told my 25 year old sister that i was calibg hin max she said it was a dog name. That its a dead name ad that she will pick another name to call him , this made me cry tons cos i thought it was really rude and she just cant do that , it will confuse him :( ,and she has a son called giles i dont like that name but i dont say that to her i get on with it cos he is my nephew at the end of the day :/ .., me and OH cant decide on which middle bame we prefer Max Logan or Max Lucas , which one would you say sounds better ? , Xxx

Thats very petty of your sister :dohh: I wouldn't worry, she's not gonna call him by any other name, she's just doing it to make you feel bad. Any name in the world can be a dogs name!

I really like Max Lucas :) xx
