Can I drink milkshake?... Some one at work was funny about me drinking one the other month, to which I haven't touched one since in the fear of it BUT now it's all I think about.. Can I make a milkshake with normal semi skimmed milk and add nesquick powder?... I just want a chocolate milkshake SOOOO badly. Lol x

Yeah those kinds of milkshakes are fine, they do say to avoid McDonald's type milkshakes, same as the mc flurrys. But a nesquik milkshake will be fine. I've had the strawberry one, mmmmm lovely :-)

I'm sorry but I just have to lol at the person who was giving you grief over a MILKSHAKE!?!? Really...I understand some people want to be super healthy and what not but there is a point where it's getting extreme and I think this is it. Milk is dairy, which everyone should consume unless for medical reasons. I don't see how this could be damaging except for if there was something like booze in one you order at a restaurant by accident. My advice would be to have a dang milkshake and tell anyone who gives you grief to take a long walk on a short pier.

Why would McDonalds sell a product that is unpasturized and or unsafe for a pregnant lady?

It's because the machines might not be cleaned properly. The machine could contain bacteria.

I've made milkshakes a few times already this pregnancy. It's just ice cream, milk and flavouring so it's fine. If you want to be a bit healthier, use vanilla frozen yogurt. I made a couple with frozen yogurt and they were really good.

Its more the concern on how clean the machines are i.e. bacteria. I have heard some concerns over listeria but they should be selling pasteurized products.

But side note here in the US I see more listeria outbreaks in fruit and veggies than in cheeses and meats.

Exactly. If you trust the cleanliness of the place you're buying ice cream from then go for it. I think its silly to avoid all soft serve ice cream items because pregnant or not, if the place isn't clean, you may get sick. And so if you feel safe eating the ice cream on a regular basis then why not when you're pregnant?

we have to be smart about the things we consume...not over the top paranoid:) enjoy all the milkshakes you can handle lol

Thank you ladies... I know some people can be abit over the top with avoiding things
To eat... But it can become a bit silly.. I mean women have been having babies for years and years,, they didn't have all these don't eat foods when our grandparents had our parents.. And they're fine.. It's just being careful but your at a low risk of getting poisoning
When your not pregnant and we still eat what we want and are fine.. Lol. But thank
You all.. I will be making a
Milkshake as soon as I get home from work tonight :-)

I've had major Yazoo cravings this pregnancy. My fridge is stocked up, enjoy them its actually beneficial to you and bubs from the calcium aspect.

OH had a chocolate milkshake from mcdonalds the other day and my daughter had a mcflurry. I think I actually drooled. I might try recreating a strawberry mcdonalds milkshake later :haha:

Im pretty sure normal store bought milkshake/bottled milkshake is fine! I had quite a few yahoo milkshakes in my last pregnancy.

If anyone got in my way from having a strawberry milkshake there would be trouble :) it's going to be a long day now thinking of the yummy milkshake power sat in my kitchen cupboard x

I have had a couple of McD's milkshakes during this pregnancy and have been fine. I have now got Nesquik powder to make my own at home with semi skimmed milk. I have only bought this because it's a little healthier and I can have a milkshake at 2am when I am crying with heartburn lol.

X

I have prob one a day.... loved them before but now I want them more than ever especially as they help with heartburn.

Should prob cut down but oh well!!! Calcium is good for me.

I never really understood the argument about soft serve icecream. Why would anyone, pregnant or not, want to eat icecream out of a unclean machine. Wouldn't it be a health hazard for all?

Honey - go get a milkshake- one for you, one for your baby and one for me (my budget doesn't like my $4 milkshakes everyday- cut backs lol) And have one for your co worker that gave you crap about it.

If the fear is in how they clean the machines then we (Everyone pregnant or not) should technically be avoiding ice tea because those things they actually do not clean properly or even eating out period at a restaurant or fast food. I'm more worried about the cleanliness of the people who are preparing my food. Yugh. Enjoy your Milkshake!!!!!

And personally - me and my son are addicted to strawberry milkshakes from Wendy's or Chic-fil-a. SOOOOOOOOO YUMMY!!!!

I have had so many milkshakes! Banana milk is also a favourite! And now with all this talk of mcdonalds ones that is what I really really want for lunch. I don't see a problem with that, if you worry too much then you will have 9 months of being miserable. Restaurants are held to strict health and safety food practices and places like mcdonalds I believe are checked more than independent places so I am going to carry on enjoying my mcdonalds haha

If it helps you to feel less guilty, I drink raw milk every day. Actually, milking a goat as I type...
