Hi there, my son is 16 months old and has always been a very early riser, at one point we were up at 4.30 on a regular basis :( at the moment he is up anywhere between 5 am and 6 am with the very latest morning to date being 6.50 (and that was just the once!)

We have managed to push his bedtime on from 6pm to 6.45 over a few months but this is the latest we seem to manage, he has one or two naps a day of around an hour each but come 6pm he is tiring rapidly and it is a struggle to keep him up! At the weekends DH and I take it in turns to have a lie in but during the week I get up with him as DH works full time, if I go to bed any later than ten pm I am shattered!

Just wanted to start a group for support/advice for myself and anyone else out there who is having to get up at the butt crack of dawn it really gets me down sometimes!

Good idea for a group, I'm sure there are quite a few of us! Who knew that 6.30 could feel like a lie-in??? Honestly I am so happy when Thomas sleeps even until 6, I must admit that my heart sinks when the time is 5:something, it just seems like the middle of the night. Thomas goes through little spates of sleeping until 6 or even 6.30 and I think that I have cracked it, but his favoured time is still 5.30ish. I have tried lots of stuff with little effect.

It would be also interesting to hear from anyone who used to have this problem and they either solved it or baby grew out of it! Give us hope please!!

Yup I belong here. Oliver wakes usually ON THE DOT 5.10. Bizzare. Unlucky mornings start at 4.30  or if we are very lucky we might get a 5.45 start. 6.30 would be beond bliss!!!

However I do think myself lucky as Oliver now sleeps until 5.10 - he used to wake every hour so to me this is rest!!! Saying that the early starts do kill me and cause rifts with DH as I'm wanting to go to bed no later than 10 to try and get a decent sleep whereas he's wanting to put DVD's on. He does one get up for me at the weekend but makes such a fuss about it I may as well get up myself. I find once you're up its ok - but it does take its toll!!!

Great idea to start this group will be nice to have people to chat to at that hour - I usually trawl the boards getting depressed at the lack of people online and obviously still getting their z'ds!!!!

EDIT: I did manage to get him to sleep til 6.15 yesterday by putting a lullaby on his white noise machine - maybe just a fluke as it didnt work this morning!

Hi everyone :). I belong here for sure. Daisy wakes up for the day at 4am every single day and has done for months and nothing I can do seems to change her routine. Last night she went to bed at half 6 and then was awake from 10 til 1am, then awake again at half 2 and then up for the day at 4. During the week my husband usually gets up with her at that time and I get an hour extra in bed before having to get up for work. It is torture :(. I agree that 6:30 would seem like a lie in. I think I'd cry with happiness if she slept til half 6!

Us too 5am is such a wonderful time of day compared to 3.30am yaaaawn!!! I have permenant bags under my eyes!!!

helloooo "gives a tired wave"
4.30 this morning :( she used to be great but lately she rises usually from 5 to 6...I have started putting her to bed an hour later at 8 rather than seven and this makes no difference.
Im soooo tired as im sure you all are...xx

Hi, we belong here too. C is a terrible sleeper & can often be awake for a couple of hours at a time in the night. Even on the nights she sleeps through, her normal wake-up time is around 5.30am. At one stage it was 4.30am. I refuse to get her up any earlier than 5.30am & am going to try to push that towards 6am if we ever get another decent run of her sleeping through. I too have tried pushing back her bedtime & it makes no difference apart from giving me a tired grumpy baby before bed.

Hi!

La is a little monkey and loves those early mornings... and as I get up for work at 6.30 trying to get her back to sleep takes up valuable time I could be in bed in the warm!

Welcome to you all and thanks for joining my thread :) Look forward to chatting to you all in the early hours (although tomorrow is my lie in day :happydance:)

Do any of you find that a couple of hours after getting up they are ready for a nap? Myles usually goes back down for an hour around 2 or 3 hours later and I sometimes go back to bed myself!!

Yes, we find that. Sometimes, if C has had a really early start, she can be getting up from her first nap at the time most babies & people are getting up for the first time. She can be up at 5am, back down at 6.30 ish & back up at 7-7.30am. Enjoy your lie-in tomorrow xx

hello another early riser here morgan is 17months and gets up between 5am & 6am and thats her until nap time at 12ish we've tried putting bed time back but it made her get up earlier
i get a lie in every second sunday because OH works long shifts 6days a week so one week he gets sleep the next i do :) and tomorrow is my morning for sleep x

Its my lie in day tomorrow too :happydance:

Oliver has a nap about 9.30 but (bad mummy) he still naps on me so for me thats my time to catch up on a bit of tele - I sometimes drop off holding him tho

Ilana will drop off earlier with no nap but still not until 11ish - she's a daytime sleep hater!

Helllooooo!

Ruby has been an early riser since about 13 months. 5-6.30am.

6 on the dot is probably the most common wake up time, however in the last 2 weeks, she has been waking up at around 5.30 and we have been able to get her back to sleep for another hour! Probably a phase...

The most annoying thing to me is work mornings, OH leaves v early which means I have to get a shower etc with Ruby in tow, or get up at like 4.30am so as not be in OH's way. :(

If she would only sleep until 7am, everything would be much easier! I'm not asking for 9am, I'm not even asking for 8! But 7 would be great!

It's all relative isn't it? I'm not even asking for 7 - I would be so happy with 6.30 or even a consistent 6! 5.20 a.m. this morning, yawn!!

Morning, hope everyone enjoyed their lie-ins? I didn't get as much of one as I would have liked as DH decided to put M back to bed at 5 to 7 for some reason despite the fact he had only woken up at 5.25 ??? think he must have been tired himself, anyway all that happened was M was banging his head on the cot to stay awake and I ended up getting up with him at half seven :growlmad: honestly he really bugs me sometimes!!!

Jacob is another early riser, also around 5am, for a while there it was 3:30-4 - that was tough! I also just wish he would sleep until 6. He usually goes to bed around 7pm. We've also tried keeping him up later and it didn't work, just made him grumpier and he also woke up earlier too.

Morning ladies, 5.30 for us today although he started crying briefly at 4.30 so I have been awake since then :( I got woken up at 3.05 by some annoying blokes talking really loudly and having their car engine running outside too :growlmad: god only knows what they were doing!!!

So what is your routine when you get up? I bring M downstairs, he always says 'down' the minute we get out of his room and has a massive tantrum if I try and take him in our room! then I change his nappy, give him a bottle of milk and sit him on the sofa with the tv on (recorded episodes of Peppa normally since most of the channels are still off air!) and go and make a cup of tea - then come on here LOL, he will happily watch tv for about half an hour then I normally try and read to him or play quietly till DH gets up at 6.15

Daisy was up from 10 until 2 then up for the day at half 4. I don't know how she manages on so little sleep. She only had one nap yesterday between 9 and 10am. I am SO tired!!

:hi: I belong here too x
Finley normally wakes around 5.30-6am & he's awake a few times in the night too :dohh:
Today was 6.45am which would be amazing if he hadnt been up half the night!!!
6.30am is a lie in for us too, doesnt happen very often anymore.
The older he's got the earlier he wakes up.
We went through a phase of him waking at 4.30am & it killed me but managed to get him to 5.30-6am which isnt great but would rather that than 4am x
Think its harder now the dark mornings are here, I hate opening the curtains at 5.45am & seeing the darkness thinking its still night time why am i up lol x
Finley normally has his nap about 9.30am but only for about an hour so by the time I have dropped off he's waking up :dohh:
Although i dont get that luxery (sp) in the week because I'm at work :nope:
