Hi All,

(I've posted this on First Tri as well, but thought I'd get your opinions as well)

Over the last week or so I've been having some rather painful aches and stabbing pains (more painful than normal) Also yesterday, I had a searing pain the length of my stomach and it really hurt, put since then I haven't really had any pains or niggles...The lower left side of my stomach is really bloated / swollen, where as my right side is normal!

My mum seems really concerned and wants me to book in to get an early scan (she had a lot of miscarriages before and after me so is really worried)

What do you think I should do?! As I don't want to waste the doctors time if it turns out to be nothing or steal a scan from someone that may really need it!

Thanks, Nikki xx

i bother my midwife about so many tiny things, i feel guilty but then she reminds me, it's her job!
scans are there to check these things, so you're not 'stealing it from someone else' don't be silly!! :) anything that helps you feel more comfortable and happy in your pregnancy is worth it.
tell the doctor or midwife if you have one yet about the history of miscarriage and about your pains and they'll do what's right.
the pains to me sound totally normal though hun, it's probably your uterus stretching, it's bleeding that you need to really really watch out for in first trimester.
don't panic, see your doctor and they'll know what the best thing to do is :) you're not wasting anyones time, it's what they get paid for and they honestly do care xxx

If you're swollen..I'd definitely call the doctor or midwife about a scan. It sounds like it -could- be an ectopic pregnancy to me. I don't mean to scare you though!
It definitely sounds like you should be on the safer side and get a scan though. Keep in mind it'll be an internal scan.

At 7 weeks it shouldn't be an internal scan hun. I'd pop along to your GP and tell them how you feel. They'll know the best thing to do and if you need a scan they'll be able to arrange that for you. Best of luck xx

i had one at 6 weeks 4 days and it wasnt internal and they could still see everything.
i would ring up doctor and get a scan booked it wont take up anyones scan space it is a 20-30 minute appointment and would be good to get your mind at rest, i had this a few weeks ago and i was worried also i think its just normal
