Early sex with a complicated pregnancy???

What are the best ways to get pregnant while struggling with infertility and loss? Adopted two baby girls...got pregnant with DS now 10. Have your first appointment with an infertility specialist and start planning a summer's worth of awesome vacations....just got a BFP last night.

Obviously we will be consulting our doctor who is the only reason that my son is alive, but if you know you have limitations/bed rest coming in the future, how early did you stop having sex? We for sure have an incompetent cervix which led to two losses, almost losing DS10, and will be having an early cerclage done again. We're four weeks pregnant now and don't remember how soon we stopped last time. The freaked out dad in me wants to say no more for nine months, but I was wondering if others have been told something different by their doctors. DW will be calling her doctor for an appointment in the next few days, but I'm not known for my patience.

That is where my scared daddy feelings are coming from. I'm just looking for either validation of that feeling or "hey calm down, you have a few more weeks before you need to worry."

I won't have to wait to long to know though, DW's doctor told her when we started trying that she'd check her out very early on this time due to our history of problems.

I agree. With an incompetent cervix I wouldn't risk it. Especially not before seeing a doctor and seeing what they have to say. They may say it's perfectly fine and in that case they know better than us, but better safe than sorry until all can be checked out.

I've heard in high risk pregnancy, they do often advise no sex prior to 12 weeks and I imagine a weakened cervix would definitely cover that.

I definitely don't think you are overreacting and it's great you are so protective and aware; I hope the appointment goes great for you both.
