Hi

I dont think we qualify for anything apart from the normal £20 a week but could someone please help?

My partner earns £27k and I earn £24K. Obviously I will be on maternity pay and our company doesnt have a maternity package. I am then hoping to go back 3 days a week so will be on something like 16K.

How are the benefits worked out? Based on my 24K or my 16K? Will we get any other help towards childcare costs?

Anyone else earn around 40K in the household?

Tax credits are based on last years earnings,
We got £77per week last year, but as we earnt a joint income of £30,000 last year we will now get £70ish a month.
xx

not sure how much child care help you Will get. we in a similar position at mo as i go back to uni in Sept and am hoping we Will get a little help with child care!

You *may* get help with Childcare as the limit for 2 adults and 1 child is approx £41k, even with the new thresholds. There are calculators online which has 12/13 figures now. If you aren't entitled see if your employers offer the Childcare voucher scheme.

Also, To avoid the chance of overpayment, when you get you award which is based on last tax years earnings, ring them and tell them this years so it's as accurate as possible. We've done this every year without a problem.

Sorry to thread butt, but i didnt know the limit was 41k for help with childcare costs. Thankyou so much for the info. I was dreading getting my new award because i really thought i wouldnt be entitled to any help with my LO'S nursery costs and i have been worrying so much about it (they are £280.00 a month) and i couldnt find any info about it - so thankyou :flower::thumbup:
