a bit of backround...
lo is now 7 days old, i was planning to EBF but LO had latching problems so i started exressing into a syringe and syringe feeding for the first 36 hours (whilst trying to establish a latch) after the 36 hours LO was dehydrated so the peds said i had to bottle feed formula every 3 hours
I did this and still tried to get him to latch in hope but nothing happened so i started expressing when my milk came in, and have to keep topping up with formula as im not producing enough to keep him happy.
I went to a breast feeding specialist said he had a uncoordinated suck and this is more than likely the problem she said to carry on as i am and use the bottle to teach him how to suckle and he may eventually latch onto the breast.
last night he latched on!!! straight after i expressed but kept his latch for at least 10 mins so then he had a 3oz bottle after he came of. ive tried him every feed since (x2 night feeds and morning feed) but no joy of him latching again until he has just latched onto me now.
But what do i do??? i am due to express so i know ii havve milk in there for him,
do i top him up still with my expressed milk??? as i'm pretty sure i wont have enough to satisfy him.
should i offer him the bottle once he comes of just incase??
