hi everyone I just went to the doctor yesterday and he thinks I might have a mild case of endometriosis. My mom had it. I was just wondering what symptoms you had. My periods are normal no major pains or bleeding. We have been trying three years. Thanks

Hi Christina I prob can't help but have been wondering if I have this condition recently as I have painful periods and my mum had endometerosis around the same age as I am now.

Hope u find the answers, baby dust to you xx

Hi,
I'm also interested to know, it's something I suspect as well due to severe pain and heavy bleeding. I have my first fs appointment this week so we will see what she says also!

i didn't have any symptoms other than infertility. although since having a laparotomy and finally my baby :happydance: (via csection), i now get very bad ovulation pain and excruciating period pain

Hi there
For many people infertility is the only symptom of endometriosis. As for me I have minimal endometriosis with long, heavy periods and pain plus hormonal issues

Hi though I would add what I know. Endo does not neccessarily show up on ultrasound, does not mean you have long periods either they also could be short and scanty. Also the pain you have at period time is no indication of how bad you have it. I am booked in for lap and dye to check wether or not I have retrogade menstruation, which is where the blood flows backwards into tubes, causing a light period. If it shows clear then I will probably be called 'unexplained'. I have quite sore periods but can relieve pain with painkillers. It can been quite odd not to get BFP though with good SA and perfectly timed intercourse. No one in my family has endo. But I have read it can be hereditary.

Good luck

Hi,

I have been trying to have a baby for for about three years. I had painful and very short periods, that were very irregular, bladder pain and reaccuring BV. They decided to send me for a lap and this showed I had stage 3 endo. This was treated and I have now just had my first IUI.

Fingers Crossed

For me, just infertility. I had it diagnosed and treated in 2008 and my son was conceived naturally 7 months later.

pixie77, was you blood flowing back into tubes? I'm dreading lap, but other than that diagnosis there is no explanation for never having concieved

To be honest I'm not sure. No one has told me that and I had a HSG and my tubes were clear I know that. I've still not had a follow up after my lap and it was in July, my surgeon has been away. I see him next week and find out for sure what was going on.
I put my lap off for ages and ages, in the end I asked to be referred back and requested it. It wasn't great, but with lots of rest you'll be good within a week or two. I'm a mega wimp and went through it. I still say getting my wisdom teeth out was worse, far worse. I hated the bloating with the lap, I looked like a barrel for four weeks, I was told it was due to internal bruising. Slim again now, tough my tummy muscles aren't quite as good, but they'll get destroyed with children anyway.

If its what you need, do it!

Good Luck

I just had a lap for stage 4 endo in July. I already have PCOS, and went years w/o diagnosis. I used to have really painful periods, but for the last year I've had no pain at all-- also very light periods lasting no more than 3 days. The only reason they found it at all was because of my IBS! Though I have found :sex: painful which can be a symptom.

Even if you're tubes aren't blocked, endo can still affect fertility-- it's possible for endo to occur in your ovaries affecting ovulation, or it can affect the position of the ovaries so that the eggs can't move into the fallopian tubes as easily. There are also theories that Endo affects the production of prostaglandins, therby interfering with implantation. So I'd say it's worth having checked out! There is no way to know for sure how much endo there is until they do a lap. I've also heard a lot of success stories for women afterwards. I don't know if I'll fall into that category, but I'm really glad I did it. And it wasn't nearly as bad a procedure as I imagined.

If you have one, just make sure to take it easy afterwards and bring a flowly dress and a pillow for the car ride home.

I just got a call from the nurse today, telling me that my US showed that I have endo. I go in 2 weeks to talk to the doctor about the next steps (I'm guessing a lap.). My symptoms of endo have been: dark, clotty periods, very painful cramps (I cry on my firsd day of AF), long periods...or at least a long line of days of dark, yucky spotting afterward, and pain during bd. We have been ttc for just over a year with no BFP (although I have been sexually active for about 12 years with no BFP but on BCP most of that time). I hope you get the answers you are looking for!

hello to you! so my husband an I have been trying for a few months, with no luck. My mother had endometriosis, and since it's hereditary, I'm well aware that I may have it. I'm 25. I started my periods at 11, and they were painful from I'd say 12 until 16 or 17, and the pain slowly decreased. I had to take ibuprofen, but it worked. Now i rarely take anything. Thing is, I get these cramps maybe 7 days past ovulation, until my periods begins. They are not painful, but I just feel a twinge. Is it possible to have endometriosis, if the pain is pretty much gone during your periods? They didn't find anything wrong at my pelvic exam, but I know only a laparoscopy can really tell you if you have it or not.
