Hi - just wrote this and its turned out to be a rly long post, I do get to the point I promise
Ive just been looking into egg sharing and wanted to ask your advice as to what you thought about it. Morally Im fine with it, would quite like the fact that I helped someone out and it wouldnt be my kid, if they contacted me at 18 I suppose I would behave like an aunt or something similar.
Im not quite there yet with IVF, Ive just done two cycles of 100mg Clomid which didnt seem to get me to OV, this ones looking positive but I wont hold my breath tbh.
My next option is injectables and theyre so expensive. They say that it takes a normal couple up to 12 months to conceive - I know that youre more likely to produce multiple eggs with fertility treatment, but potentially Ill have to do 12 months of injectables? No thanks.
So I figured I would do one or two cycles with injectables then go straight to IVF. We dont have any SA issues so Im not convinced the IUI will be much good for me, my issue is plain that I dont ovulate and I think that once we get that sorted Ill be fine, just down to statistics after then.
My point is (I am getting there) I have just today heard about egg sharing for IVF and I rly like the idea of it. I love the idea that I'd be helping a couple in need, I thought my husband would be weird about it but he said 'sounds great, why doesnt everyone do it'.
I have read about the criteria for donation and Im not sure if I qualify - I dont want to go through screening if its blatantly obvious that I would fail, so wondered if you could help.
The issue is that Im not sure what counts as a serious inheritable disease. I am suspected diabetic - blood sugar was 7.1 once, 7 is the cutoff, all tests after that were fine. I apparently PCOS but no cysts on ovaries. The main this is that I was off work with depression for two years in 2008. Im not sure if this is a genetic thing as tbh there was a lot of situational stuff going on.
Would this exclude me? Im under 35, BMI WILL be under 30 by the time I need treatment. I wouldnt want to pass on any duff eggs but not sure if this sort of thing is considered genetic.
My closest clinic is probably Exeter so anyone with experiences there as well, chip in!
