just a few things i learned reading some hard science
the yolk sac... the shape, size of it etc. if abnormal can give doctors early info about how the pregnancy will go. if it is not visible at 5 weeks that's usually not a good sign.
i was doing research to find out if the yolk sac location determines the placenta location. anyone know? i don't believe so, I think the yolk sac changes so much over a period of weeks that it can be located anywhere.... that's what i saw in videos and in one diagram i saw that the placenta was forming totally opposite of the yolk sac.... so while one replaces the function of the other, i don't think they are in the same location.
anyway, the embryology site was a hard read but based on pictures and videos about formation, I think it's safe to say that until the placenta is developed one can't know where it will be.
