Can anyone advise me on this please?

My employer is starting to do CRB and credit checks on all staff and i've been asked to give my consent for this. I've worked for the company for over ten years and the CRB I can understand as we deal with sensitive customer information, but a credit check? I don't have a problem with my credit history but I don't see why they need this info...?

Are they allowed to ask for this kind of information, can i refuse to allow them to do it or am i just being silly? What do you guys think?

Thanks a million!!

xx

when i worked for royal bank of scotland they did credit checks every 6months this was only cos we worked for the bank insurance companies aswell can do credit checks,

i think it depends on what aspect of a company you work for if you work for the finance side of companies then i guess yes they can do checks as they can class you as a high risk xxxx

I worked in a credit card (Citibank) call centre when at uni, and they were saying that they were going to bring in credit checks. Their reasoning was that we needed to be 'financially sound' if we were going to be giving people advice on their credit.

What area do you work in? x

Thanks for the replies girls- I work in insurance so i guess they can ask for the info. I guess i am objecting over nothing! Maybe i just wont hand in the form til they ask me...!

:)
