We have made it to almost 9 months but I really think i'm going to have to give up.
My LO is small anyway and is a very slow gainer. She always used to feed every 3 hours or thereabouts, but lately (since getting a lot more mobile and inquisitive) she is barely wanting anything! She has a feed at about 6am, but then she wont "ask" for another one- I feed her about 1, and then she has a bottle of formula for bedtime milk (only a very recent thing so she doesn't associate boob with sleep as I wanted to give up at a yr old). The problem is with the feeds she hardly ever has even the letdown as she wants off! I think if she could take it with her and snack as she is going along she would! I try feeding her more often but she really doesn't want it, she'll suck for a couple of minutes if that and scream to be put back down!
I think if I gave her a bottle of formula in the morning- as soon as up, then one at lunchtime ish and then one at bed at least I'd know what she was having and she'd have a decent amount as she can keep coming back to it.
I just don't know what to do, she really needs to eat a decent amount, she is weighed every 4 weeks as she has dropped centiles and is currently between the 2nd and 9th line. She eats a fair amount of solids- but rebels against her highchair a lot as she doesn't like to be kept still!

Sorry for the essay but i'm so torn! Also if I was to go to formula how do I wean her slowly off the boob- seeing as she doesn't take much? Like keep with the morning feed for a while, but change the lunchtime and evening feeds to formula?

Hmmm. That's tricky.

Could you maybe pump (if you've got the time) then give her the milk in a bottle/sippy 3 times a day?

Then you don't need to worry about keeping her on the boob and she can drink it on her terms?

I think at 9 months she still needs either BM or formula so don't feel bad. You've done amazing to go this long! I hope we get to 9 months.

It must be really hard if she's decided she doesn't want to be at the boob anymore. Xx

Thank you for replying, it means a lot, and I should be happy we got this far, I had forgotten that.

I got rid of my pump as I just couldn't find time to do it, what with an LO that doesn't nap well and an almost 4 year old!

I like the idea of giving her milk in a sippy cup so she can play and have it with her.
