Ergo Infant Insert question

A friend of mine gave me her old ergo infant insert, but it is the old style. From what I'm reading online, it sounds like the new design is much better.

Is it worth it to get the new insert? DH will only wear the Ergo, but I also have a baby buddha which I will use as well as the Ergo.

i didnt want to read and run..... But not sure if Im going to be much help.

We have an ergo, and we didnt have the infant insert. Instead I just crossed my LOs legs in fron of her and didnt have themn hang out. at about 3.5 months she was too big for this position but too little to use it properly so I just tucked her one leg in and let the other hang out. At about 4.5 months she was big enough for the proper way.
