im an expat to, originally from New Zealand but moved over to the UK in June 2005 and been here ever since, came on a working holiday visa and had to apply for an addition to it to get married to DH whos british but from south africa originally and this year i get my UK citizenship,

in aswer to your questions earlier
1. One thing you prefer about your home country to where you live now. Mainly the lifestyle its alot less hustle and bustle
2.One thing you prefer about where you live now to your home countryTechnology, its cheaper out here to be more high tech and have broadband internet etc.....

I'm an expat too, originally from Vancouver Canada but spent much of my youth in the UK and I now live in Switzerland as my OH works in pharmaceuticals.

I miss living in Canada, we have lots of family and friends there and I like the outdoor lifestyle the west coast has to offer. We have been in Switzerland for a year now and while I do like living here there are lots of things that frustrate me and my German is not very good.

welcome to all the new ladies :)

Hope you have all had nice weekends, been up to anything fun?

not really just chilled out as much as i could while looking after the boys , oh went for a 2 hour walk with EJ in the front pack with DH yesterday, he had Nate in the pushchair, so my shoulders are a bit sore now as EJ is a big baby ( over 11lbs )

Sapphira is massive too, she was tiny when she was born (5th percentile) and is now in the 96th percentile!!!

Hello everybody, I've just seen this as I did a search for 'homesick' Lol.
I'm english living in america. My OH is american and LO was born here. I do like it but I miss home very very much

to answer the questions from earlier:
1. One thing you prefer about your home country to where you live now.
my family and best friends are there
2.One thing you prefer about where you live now to your home country

hey girls,

Im english living in Cyprus atm - hubbys in army and this is our new posting for the next 3+years!

I love how laid back it is here, and the climate and the beach being 20 mins walk,

i miss uk prices - everything (except frsh produce) is crazy expensive, and i miss my family,

Hi. I'm American and live in the UK. I've lived here 7.5 years. I did my nurse training over here, met a great guy a few months into my training, married that guy just over a year ago after being together 3.5 years, and now we have Jack.

What I like here in the UK: I just feel I fit in better. Life suits me better here. I also feel I have more autonomy in my career here.
What I miss about the US: How much cheaper most things are. There also seems to be a lot less red tape about this. And food that I can't make at home here. But we're getting Taco Bell back next month, so that solves a few problems! haha

Hi,

I'm an Expat too. Moved from UK to Czech Republic 5 years ago due to DH work commitments - supposed to be sort term but ended up buying property here and having our daughter here too.

ive got a couple of questions for you ladies..
1. One thing you prefer about your home country to where you live now
2.One thing you prefer about where you live now to your home country

Mine are;
1. The food and definately the Pub atmosphere. People here tend to be very quiet and I'm a very loud extrovert, so I get some looks!
2. Again, the People as they tend to be on the quiet side and very pleasant indeed.
