When doctor tried to feel baby's position today, I was apparently having a BH contraction (didn't even realize it). I had noticed my stomach feeling firm a lot lately (with or without a tightening feeling) and wasn't positive if they were BH, but sounds like they all were- which based on my tracking means I have been having upwards of 20 a day.

He also noted how active baby was (took a longgg time to get a heart rate because he wouldn't stop moving).

Apparently I have an irritable utertus, he said probably in part because of how active the baby is.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Did you end up in labor sooner than normal because of it, or have any other issues that could be caused by it? He didn't really seem concerned but said to bring up to my OB specialist next week.

uhh i have tons of BH per day they are like non stop. they did say i had irritable uterus in l&d when i went last week but i didnt chalk it up to anything because i have been having false labor too that is painful. my daughter is very active too. too active.. her movements hurt.

Having bh is normal. I don't think it qualifies as an irritable uterus just based on that. I wouldn't worry too much

Sorry I should clarify it was the doctor who was calling it irritable uterus after I explained the BH, discomfort etc.

I have a irritable uterus , was the same with my first, I went 8 days over and had early labour for days before active labour, hopefully not this time! I think it basically means our uterus is a bit more sensitive as baby is so active x

I have IU for the second time. I did go into preterm labor bc of it last pregnancy at 32 weeks and was hospitalized with steroids etc. They were able to stop it but I delivered at 37.4 bc my water broke. This pregnancy I've been on rest since 26 weeks bc my IU was causing cervix to shorten. Been on progesterone suppositories since and the contractions aren't as bad. I did end up in LD last week bc they were 3 mins apart...

I've had irritable uterus both pregnancies. No preterm labor, but I had very regular, timeable contractions for about two weeks before my son was born.

One thing to consider is that dehydration (even slight) can create a labor-like pattern of contractions. It happens to me every few days. I'll get contractions 3-5 minutes apart for a while and it signals me to drink more water. Once I'm sufficiently hydrated again, they taper off.

I had IU with DS due to polyhydramnios. I was contracting, regularly but totally unproductively, from 34 weeks until 38+1. Had to get terb shots twice because my contractions were three minutes apart and agonizing, but there was zero progress. I had been scheduled for a C-section at 39+0 but my OB was uncomfortable with the IU contracting on my C section scar and delivered me 6 days early. My understanding is that if she hasn't delivered me, I would have gone on contracting like that until labor decided to start. She said it wasn't progressing me toward delivery at all, just causing me pain and potential danger :/ I think for an unscarred uterus it's not an issue, but for a C section scar it was bad news.

I've had IU for three pregnancies. With the first, he came at 36+6 weeks, the second came at 35+0 weeks, and with the third, I was on weekly progesterone shots to prevent preterm labor, which got me to term, and then I was induced for gestational hypertension. My contractions always showed up on monitors, and would come every 2-3 minutes for hours some nights. With this last pregnancy, I was in early labor for two weeks before he was born. The good news is, the actual labor was only 4 hours. :flower:
