Hi there

I read that a ferritin under 40-50 could really impair chances of getting pregnant. Now having been infertile for 5 years and having treatment for my other issues I thought that mybe I am missing something because I am still not getting pregnant. So I realized that my ferritin level is only 29.!!
I have now started taking IRON supplement with C-vitamin 3 times a day and will update you on my experiment.
If anyone else is also trying out IRON for infertility let me know:)

I was taking spatone suppliment with apple juice for a few cycles (the vit C helps with ingestion of iron) but I'm afraid I did not get my bfp.

I have heard some success stories about iron supplimentation.

Remember not to drink tea or coffee when taking these as the tannins can inhibit the absorption of iron.

hope you have some luck with this.

Thank you for the tip. I am also taking mine with c-vit and on an empty stomac. I am planning to take it for 3 months and then maybe have another blood test:) Am ecxcited to see if my restless feet or my easy bruising will be improved because I read that these are also sign of lack of Iron.

Funny you say that about restless legs, mine have been really bad again recently, and I have literally just 5 mins ago ordered some more iron suppliments, magnesium and calcium and to start taking the B6 again to see if it helps with the RLS........ It has to be the most annoying thing in the world! I was up most of the night last night because of it, I ended up taking a diazepam in the end. I only have them for when its really really bad, I. Don't like taking them, so am anxious to see if the iron etc works.

Bears Mummy,
Nothing much happening here excet my poh is "different":/
Keep me updated:)

Me too!! :haha:

Nothing else to report

where in your cycle are you?

Hi there
I am on day 12 and signs of ovulation are starting to show. And you?

A

I'm CD13

But trying to take a relaxed approach this cycle after 6 cycles of clomid, a year of charting and 2 years of OPKs.

So I'm trying not to see if I have any O signs for the time being! I only know I'm CD13 because I just had to work it out!!

I understand the need to create some distance to the whole fertility symptom spotting etc. It never worked for me though. I am always making sure to hit the time of ovulation and never miss a symptom that could be pregnancy related;)

I suppose after 10 years of it all, I just can not be bothered this cycle!
We'll see how I do later in my cycle, that will be the hardest part!!

Hi there
Short update. I had a blood test last week and the ferritin came back at 42 so I guess taking a bit of supplement has helped:) Found out my D-vitamin is LOW so I am on that now;)
Will keep you updated. Best wishes
Amber

I just wanted to let you know I started taking iron and vitamin D last cycle and got my BFP after 25 months! I don't know if that was the reason but looks like it didn't hurt. Hope it works for you x

Hi, when I went to see the FS before I start IVF they told me my iron levels are very low and to take liquid Iron with some vit C. Hope it helps. Also there is a brand available in the states called Geritol often described as 'baby in a bottle' is liquid iron, so maybe that's why people have had so much success with it! Good luck this cycle :hugs:

How funny you say about that.

I start IVF next month andwas looking into suppliments, I will be taking the obvious Pregnacare Conception (there has been a study recently about this and IVF) and I have been looking into shipping some Gertitol Complete over and starting that also.

I have been using the one they sell in Tesco it's liquid Iron with heaps more vitamins and costs about £3.95 it's called Feroglobin. There is also one they sell in H&B called Floradix that one is about £10.00 but I couldn't see much difference in the iron content infact I'm pretty sure the Tesco one had more or I'd probs have stuck with the H&B one! Just thought it was worth mentioning as maybe you can find the ingredients of the Geritol and compare them? Might save some £.

Good luck in your IVF journey, I expect I will see you around here next month, maybe we'll be doing it around the same time :hugs:

I was just thinking of doing the same and getting the ingredients, even if I make it up with seperate suppliments?

I have taken Floradix before, my ex-MIL used to insist on me taking it when I was hospitalized with endo!! It tastes like crap! But that I can deal with!

I'm off to do some research on ingredients!

Keep in touch, would be good to have an IVF budddy! :hugs:

Yes do let me know how you get on, I know the one I'm taking tastes like crap! I don't see any harm in inventing a little concoction yourself.

I posted on another thread about the other vitamins I take in preparation maybe you would like to take a look the link is below.

Would love to buddy up on our IVF journey :hugs:
