Eye rubbing

My LO is always rubbing his eyes. I know this is often a sign of tiredness but he does it when he has had a long nap as well as when he is tired. He does it most frequently when he is feeding. Does anyone know what might be causing this? They don't look red or inflamed so I don't think it is an infection.

My LO rubs her eyes when shes tired, just woke and eating, she pulls her ears as well, i think in a way they are tired, and it maybe just a way to wake themselves up/go to sleep

My LO does this too whilst eating, he often eats just after waking up from a nap... lately he has being having very short naps so assumed it was a sign of tiredness.
