Hi ladies! Long shot, but has anyone taken their kids to an F1 Grand Prix before? We are looking at maybe going to the Singapore Grand Prix, with our DS, who will be 4 at the time.
Anyone have any experience, or advice? Thanks :)

I don't but you lucky duck! I would love to take my kids to an f1 race in the future. I imagine super strength ear protectors would be a necessity. Also isn't that race at night? Should be fine with lots of planning :)

It's a night time street race Jenny. Think I'll have to strap him to me, lol! Child free friends have asked us if we 'd like to go, and even though I wouldn't swap DS for the world, it would be so easy without him (!) :)

I'd love to take the boys to a grand prix in the future. We considered taking Harvey to the BTCC this year but decided to wait another year in the end. Is there something like that where you live that you could take him to as a kind of practice to see how he likes it?

There's a speed way, which has drag racing, bangers, and jet cars. We'll have to go and see :)

we go to BTCC a lot & that with ear defenders is about as loud as I would subject my kids to, I also go to santapod & have been to f1 but wouldn't dream of taking the kids there just on the noise levels
guess you could double ear protection so use the little ear plug things then headphone style defenders over the top

holy crap im jelous...that race (although pretty dull track) is just spectacular to look at. Oh if i had the money to go to the big new hotel that over looks the track....oh i would be in heaven.

were going silverstone next year but i wont be taking wee man...as too loud, and i doubt there will be good facilities for wee ppl, i also assume he will get bored. but i can just leave him for the day where as flying to singapore a bit different.

sorry not much help

Hi (I'm not a lady but I'll reply anyway... lol)

I took our eldest to an F1 race when he was 5, he loves cars and has a big F1 flag on his wall.

We thought it'd be perfect and he was initially very excited especially when he saw the cars lined up but actually he cried for the most part and was asking to leave quite early on. I think it was just too much noise and was overwhelming for him (He did have ear defenders on). He's never been afraid of fireworks or anything else loud so it was really unexpected!

I hope it goes well for you though!

some tracks have fab babychange etc (rockingham is brill) but silverstone esp since they done all the wing updates is far from fan friendly let alone child friendly imo

Oh no! That's so disappointing :(

My LO loves f1 atm, to the point where he is shouting out names at the tv. I would love to take him to a race someday but I think on your experience, I would have to wait until he's 8+. You do forget how loud it can be in the flesh, it always knocks you a bit!

I don't think all young kids would react the same as our son did so it might be alright. We take him regularly to indoor karting and he had a similar reaction to that (although he was only 3) the first time we went but calmed down within 5 minutes and never did it again.
