My OH was speaking to his Dad who lives in Spain and he is desperate for his Dad to be here for LO arrival. His Dad said that I will have many false alarms and my Mum said to me also oh you wait until you have flase alarms?

What are they? Im to embarrassed to ask:blush:

Hmm good question... This is my first and I had contractions overnight last night, about 10 mins apart, but when I woke up they sort of went away. I feel crampy now but not really having contractions so maybe that's what they mean? I have to admit I was hopeful it was starting lol

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you!

I've had quite a few false alarms where I started getting contractions fairly regularly, sometimes as often as 5 minutes apart. They were uncomfortable, not painful, and I felt crampy and had some back aches. One time it lasted all night, but it never really progresses. However, its not really false labor for me, so much as pre-labor or early labor since it is dilating and effacing my cervix. But of course, you don't really know until it either progresses to active labor or finally fizzles out. But not everyone has this; you could just as easily go into real labor having never had a false alarm.

I am currently having what I feel are contrations but had them for 2 days now and not progressing. I have had show and lost mucous plug but not sure whether I am in real labour or not?

Any suggestions???
I have rang midwife and she said it was early labour?

some people have slow labours, some people can have stop/start labours, etc.

I had a slow labour but i knew when it was the proper thing. my contractions got closer together and more regualar, then it suddenly got more intense.

i dont think its that common for people to have false labours, people do often go to hospital too soon though and get sent home, but just trust your body and dont worry, if you end up going in tooo soon, they may just send you away until your more established.
