Family HATES our name idea

I don't particularly agree regarding the porn star connotations for Studlee. I just think the name sounds made up, and I like Tanner a lot more. My nephew has the name Lee as his middle name as it's also a family name. How about something simply like that--Tanner Lee?

I'm not keen on Studlee but I wouldn't have a problem with Tanner. I don't think Studlee sounds like a pornstar. At the end of the day you need to do what you and your partner want x

I don't want to be rude, but I don't like it at all, I'm sorry. :(.

It's not in my tastes, but if you feel you must use that name, I suggest using it as a middle name and having a more conventional first name

love the name Studlee, i prefer it spelt Studley personally, but its a nice name!
its your bub hun, name him what you like :) :) xx

i'm in agreement with the consensus. I call my husband Studley when i'm taking the mick out of him. Like aaahhh look at my little Studley.

I too don't understand why you'd call him one name but refer to him as another - just call him the name you'd call him when he's born. Tanner isn't too bad but still not my taste - i'm a bit conventional with names. I like the idea of hypernating it with Lee like someone suggested: Tanner-Lee

Tanner is a better name IMO, and since thats what you are going to call him why not make it his first name. Studlee really isnt to my taste but as a middle name i see no issue with it x

I'm with the majority on this one, I think Studlee sounds awful

No that is pretty bad. Tanner is cute, but Studlee will make him sound like he has a huge ego.

Unfortunately I agree with most of the other posters... I remember being in swimming lessons with a 'Manly' and he got made fun of, it conjured up images of a big ego'ed manly man or 'stud'... i wouldn't want people immediately thinking that of my son as a first impression, especially in their career.
Plus, it being Studlee Tanner, I just think of some sexy hunter man tanning hide! I'm not trying to make a joke but that is how one could interpret it, I certainly did.. And as others have mentionned I wouldn't be surprised if that was a porno story and that was his name...sorry
I definitely agree with the others that if you're going to use Tanner anyways why not switch the order of names. You'd avoid a lot of confusion, humiliation and like I said before the 'tanning hide' image would be no more...

Of course, I hope if you really are set on the name you stick to your guns and that your family warms up to it.

As a girl who grew up with a pretty bad last name (Pokorny) I know first-hand how bad it can feel when you are embarrassed of your name and can't change it. I grew up as Horny Pokorny, as well as many other crappy nicknames (kids can be cruel). I like Tanner, but Studlee Tanner makes me think of a meathead on Jersey Shore to be honest. The dictionary defines studly as "masculine and sexually attractive".Not flattering at all, and could be something that makes him VERY embarrassed and uncomfortable. Imagine how he would feel meeting his future in-laws and introducing himself as Studlee. Not a position I would put my child in personally:( I think that Studlee is a name fit for a very specific personality, and if your LO doesn't fit that type it could be rough for him. Sorry hun, just being honest:(

I'm with everyone else, its pretty grusome.

I think the why bird said it perfectly. The name will not suit a professional job, and does honestly sound like someone's porn star name!
I know that it must really hurt to hear that people don't like your name, but you did ask for honest opinions. If you're that determined to name a son that, then go for it... but try and give him a normal middle name, so at least he can go by that instead. He will not thank you for such a unique name.

What about Stan Lee/Stanlee/Stanley (although everyone will think you love comics! :haha:)
Bradlee/Bradley
Finnlee/Finnley

Or even hyphenating them so Brad-Lee, Stan-Lee, Finn-Lee?

this is pretty much what i was going to say

Aww op I am so sorry that so many people dislike your name and while I don't like it either it is your choice and you can name him whatever you want. I do like the spelling studley better tho. No reason why really. That being said no one, I mean no one liked the name my sil picked for her son and everyone had an opinion and it was so rude considering the name is very common. And he just turned one and people are still trying to think of nicknames to call him because they hate his name. I kind of feel bad for the kid.

Tanner is lovely but the 1st name is not my cup of tea and to be honest I think he'd get teased.

I agree really that Studlee sounds made up and is a lot for a boy to live up to. He'll get jokes about silly things like sexual prowess when he gets older it's undeniable. If he's a confident 'popular' cheeky chappy that may not bother him. But what if he's quiet or shy? I feel pretty strongly about stuff like this as similar to a PP, I grew up with a totally embarrassing name and used to dread meeting new people as I'd have to tell them my name!

Wouldn't usually comment on these name threads if I don't like the name, as I think each to their own, but felt I had to with Studlee!

Tanner I actually really like xx
