Family tradition?

I think you're being very reasonable! If my OH & his family came out with something like that (like the name, I mean the pressure of carrying on someone else's tradition with your first born) I'd tell them it was tradition in my family, going back 10 generations, that the mother and father get to choose their own name!!

Just because its THEIR tradition doesn't mean it has to be YOUR son's name, I'd hate to be expected to name a child just because of someone else's tradition. But if you are happy to go with the 1st name then i reckon you should go with your own choice for the 2nd name , After all the you want something from your side too & you have every right hun.
