I wouldnt have been able to keep my mouth shut im afraid i would have let loose on him with both barrels and probably insinuated that id been putting BM in his food and drink for the last 16 months just to see his face

Ignore your FIL totally, he might be insane that is why he doesn't know the importance of it. Breastfeeding is the best food from mother that the baby intakes, which is not only good for his health but overall growth too. If you come across to any such person who might be ignorant of mother's milk, it is better to avoid that person rather then getting into an argument.
