I'm quite proud of myself :laugh2:

I've always been ok feeding Sam in public with my nursing cover, but we're usually somewhere quiet where I can sit out of the way and not really be noticed by anyone anyway.

We went to a wedding in London on Saturday and there were so many people everywhere! I was a bit worried about it (as he gets distracted so easily now too and wants to look around all the time) but he's now been fed on the train, on the platform of the tube and at the table when we were all having our dinner (with hundreds of people in the room)...so nice to still be in the middle of everything and not be worried about feeding him when there are so many people around!

Pointless thread but I feel soooo much more confident now! Also had him weighed today and at 6 months he's 17lb 3oz (6 weeks ago he was 14lb 7oz) so he must be enjoying his food :wohoo: x

Woo!! Well done. :happydance: Homebase carpark in the car is the most public we've gotten..

I always used to feed in the car if we went anywhere...more comfy than most places too! And I've got tinted back windows so nobody can see anything :D x

I saw a lady in Sainsbury's whose baby was crying and she just held him with one arm...popped him on the boob and carried on looking at the breakfast cereals!

I dont understand when people get offended by breastfeeding in public....its a natural thing....i personally think its lovely to see!!

I think it's lovely too! I only worry about it because I know some people find it offensive so it's easier just to use the nursing cover (not that they can ever really see anything without it!)

I had so many people saying what a great idea the cover was on Saturday though! And I've had people asking if they can look in the hole at the top :D x

yay!
i'm getting better too - though with friends is as far asi've got so far. the male friend present was freaked out a little i think and spoke to the ceiling throughout...hehe

i find it so much easier without the nursing cover - dont you find it flaps and collapses so you cant see bby and is generally complicated?

Well done!

I have not problem feeding in public. I have found I like wearing a tank underneath my tops, so I just pull one up and one down, and noone can see anything. I didn't even bother with a cover this weekend when we were out eating lunch. No one even noticed.

Where did you get your nursing cover from? or are there any websites you could recommend? xx

The one I've got has a fixed bit in the neck so you can always see your baby, but I do find it so much easier without it - if people come here or I go to friends' houses or I'm somewhere not too noticeable in town I don't bother with it - but when I'm a few feet from loads of people I feel more comfortable with it on. We still get hands sticking round the sides and up through the neck hole to grab my nose/lip though  x

I used to do that too but now Sam likes to look around lots during his feeds, which leaves me sitting there half topless - no problem at home or in someone else's lounge but not so appropriate at a formal dinner/on the underground platform with 6000 security cameras above me  x

I got mine from this company: https://www.sweetweebairn.co.uk/happybairn.html but I bought it on ebay (new) because it was a bit cheaper. Loads of sites seem to sell exactly the same ones (eg. https://www.prettymummy.co.uk/page2.htm). Google 'nursing cover' and you'll find quite a few but I'd really recommend one with a stiff neck because it's easier to see what you're doing, especially if your baby is squirming around!

Sam's quite happy under it...

hehe.

mine had wire in teh top bit but maybe its not long enough..i dunno, it looks like yours. It still seems to collapse a bit and I have to hold it out so I can see him. Ah well, maybe I'll give it a whirl again not Ted is much easier to feed (last tried it when he was little and complicated to latch on etc), you're inspiring me!

Also got mine on ebay.

You can also get patterns on ebay and make your own if you're crafty - they're relatively simple and very expensive in some shops. Mine has terry toweling in the corners for mopping up - very handy.

aww thats good well done, dont know if i could do that

It gets so much easier with it - now I just need to support his back with one arm (he could sit up but he likes to lie back and relax while he's feeding so I use a cushion if there's one around) - I used to get someone to hold it out so I could see to put him on, but now I just cover him over with it and by the time I've arranged it so I can see he's already feeding  x

Towelling corners sounds useful! x
