Does anyone have 'phases' where they just don't seem to love cloth as much as they did?
Just wondering as I'm really not feeling the love this week and hoping it's a phase and not something I've gone off permanently.
Guess at the moment I just feel like it's a lot of effort. I mean we all say it's no more effort than disposables but it kind of is. Well not so much for wees but for poos definitely. Other than wiping LO's bum (obviously!), a pooey disposable is no more effort than a wet one. Whereas with cloth, there's wiping and rinsing to be done which I have to confess to hating. Even though I use both fleece and paper liners together, some always still gets on the nappy and the fleece has to be rinsed anyway. And since we've started weaning a few weeks a go, the poos are more frequent and more smelly (not much more solid though).
He's now nearly always doing a poo in his night nappy as well - in the morning though I think not in the middle of the night - and so I'm reluctant to switch over to cloth at night now. I bought some bamboozles and, boosted, they were working great at night. Only tried two nights though and then needed to wash what I had and haven't gone back due to him starting the morning pooing.
I love how cute cloth is and that it's better environmentally but at the moment it feels a bit of a chore. I have to change him more often as we have more leaks with cloth than disposables (except flips which are fab for no leaks - except somehow the poo on a flip wrap grosses me out even more than on any lother nappy!). The only time we tend to have a sposie (wee) leak is if he has outpeed it overnight which happens maybe once a week now he's started sleeping on his tummy.
I'm also getting really irritated with having to stuff pockets after nappies have been washed/dried - I used to quite enjoy doing this!
Is this likely to just be a phase that they are annoying me? It's not that the individual brands of nappy are suddenly no good are anything - the only thing that has really changed is the extra poos and I don't know if it's the poos that are the problem or just that I'm feeling a bit 'down' generally at the moment and the nappies are one more thing that just seems like a big effort.
Anyway, I'm not really sure of the point of this post . Just feeling a bit for some reason. Think for now my plan might be:
- stick to sposies overnight while he's still doing a poo first thing
- stick to using my flips and easyfits most of the time (most reliable and least 'stuffing' required)
- allow myself to use sposies a couple of times a day if I'm having a bad day and reckon I won't be able to 'handle' a poo nappy.
