My LO is almost 9months and has been doing BLW since 6 months, she was on four 8oz bottles per day, going around 3.5 hrs in-between each bottle. well for the past month or so she's starting drinking less and less milk. I started giving an 8oz then two 4s then another 8 before bed but lately she's only been drinking around 5oz in the morning, then maybe 1 or 2 oz from her second bottle and the same with the third and then having around 5oz of her last bottle. Sometimes though she will just mess around with the 2nd and 3rd bottle and seems to prefer food. so I've decided I'm going to give her 3bottles instead and space them out a bit more, I'm going to start tomorrow so have made three 8oz bottles and was thinking of doing something like this:

9am - bottle (will offer 8 oz but she prob won't drink it all)
10am - porridge
12pm - lunch (a sandwich and some fruit)
2pm - bottle (again will offer 8)
4pm - tea (pasta then a yogurt)
6pm - bottle (8oz)
7pm - weetabix

Does this sound ok? Am I doing the right thing dropping a bottle? I'm so confused and stressed out about it all, wish I knew what I was doing!

If your LO is eating well, then it's fine to drop a bottle. Holly is TW, but she has 3 x 7oz bottles a day, and my HV still said that's a bit too much. It sounds like your LO is ready to drop a bottle, follow her lead. Even though your LO is BLW, it sounds like she's eating a decent amount so it won't matter - especially if she's having milk in her porridge etc. x x

Oh yes. I remember the way"should I drop a bottle" debacle! Frankie was taking less and less. By 10.5/11 months he was down to just a morningand bedtime bottle (always a milky snack like yogurt at mid afternoon) and now at 12 months he has just bedtime bottle. He has warm milk in a beaker with breakfast and afternoon snack now instead. If your LO seems ready, give it a go. There's no law saying you can't change your mind if she seems unhappy with it. I think you need to make sure she has 18oz a day until she's 12 months old xx

looks very similar to what hayden was having at that age, except he had his last bottle just before bed, so didn't have the last weetabix on your plan. as the pp said, if you try it and it doesn't work out, then you can always change back.

On the formula packet it says 3 7oz bottles per day from 6 months. I'm yet to meet a 6 month old who only has 3 bottles but I think if they recommend it then its nothing to worry about at 9 months and lo will still get all the nutrients she needs from the 3 bottles.

From 6 months Madeline only had a 7oz bottle in the morning and a 7oz one at night, and rarely finished either of them. I made sure she had plenty of dairy to top it up, and the HV said this was fine. I would drop the bottles she isn't taking (looking at what you have out, sounds like she is pretty much ready to stop daytime bottles) - she is getting lots from her food now. You will probably find she will take the full 8oz in the morning and the evening too by dropping these.
