So, today was the first day in awhile that I've been out in the sun/at the pool. I went to our community's pool around 10 am to walk laps. It was hot as usual (I live in Florida) but I was in the water the entire time. After about 30 minutes, I sat in the sun for maybe 10 minutes tops. I immediately started feeling weak/dizzy and had to sit down and get to a cool environment.

I know you have to be careful to not overheat in pregnancy, but I was keeping myself cool the entire time. Are we just more sensitive to the heat/sun in pregnancy? It scared me, but I felt fine about 30 minutes later after drinking, eating, and getting in the air conditioning....

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I tell my doctor? This is the only time this has happened...so weird.

Yes we are much more sensitive to heat.. You can mention if you want - they will probably tell you to make sure you are drinking fluids the whole time you are outdoors.

Glad you're feeling better after going inside!

I lived in florida. And in 2 pregnancies I felt the same way right before I passed out. I was in the sun then found a cool place in the shade and still passed out. Be very careful and always keep cool water in hand and DO NOT walk by yourself. Luckily I had someone there both times and they caught me before I hit the ground too hard. Fl sun is torturous.

Thanks, jzgrace. That's really good to know. I think if I would have stayed outside for more than another 5 minutes, I would have passed out. It scared me because pre-pregnancy, I could walk, bike, and be outside half the day without problems - even in the FL sun! Now, I spend 40 minutes in the pool and I feel weak and dizzy. Going to play it extra safe from now on.

I can definitely relate. I live in sunny south Florida and throughout this pregnancy I've been doing nothing but avoiding the sun and heat. I feel bad because I do know that it's important to get the vitamins that you can get from the sun. So I just have to plan my time where I need to make sure I eat well and have water if I'm going to be in the sun even for 20 mins.

Make sure ur drinking plenty of water. I'm in Indiana, so our summers aren't quite as brutal as yours, but we obviously get some hot, humid weather. My mw said I should be drinking 1-1 1/2 gal water a day. Most of us are chronically dehydrated, and between the hot weather, and pregnancy, our bodies become more sensitive.
