As we've been trying for year & 7 months, we had a chemical 2 months ago, & our GP said if nothing happends in 3 months she'll referre us, so if we don't get a BFP this month were gonna go back an see her.

How long does it normally take to get an appointment once you've been referred? Is there a waiting list or does it just depend on the area?

Thanks.

It depends on the area and the protocol. Some PCTs may prioritise on age, but it varies. I was seen with in 4 weeks but only because there was a cancellation, otherwise its 18 weeks in my area. XX

hi i too have been trying almost a year & a half......my doc refered me after 11 mths of ttc as a routine scan showed i had polycysts on my ovary. we were seen about 4 weeks after by our fs. every appointment i have been bk for is roughly a 4 week wait, altho im not due to see my fs til march now ( last saw her beginning dec) as shes put me on clomid. x

Our referral time from seeing the GP to sitting in the FS office was a month. We got the letter probably 10 days after seeing the GP. Good luck!!

When my GP referred us, we were directly transferred to the assisted conception Unit. It took me 3 weeks to receive the form. And once i returned it, i had to wait for my periods to do the tests.
Once we both (me & my husband) did the tests, we had an appointment the following week with the specialist. But this was only because we were very lucky. It usually takes about 8 weeks!!!!
Good luck.

The doctor did all our tests which took a couple of months before we were referred to the FS. Then it took another 20 weeks to see the FS.
I think it just depends on your area.

Good luck x

Hi girls,

My waiting time to see a specialist is 4 weeks so was very pleased with that - I have my first appointment on 11th March and really don't know what to expect. I have PCOS and am currently on metformin. I haven't had AF since coming off the pill last June. Can anyone tell me what to expect from my first appointment? Is it likely I will be prescribed clomid straight away or will I have weeks wait for that?

My GP gave us the referral form and we now need to book the appointment. You can do it on line but we tried today and it came up saying there are no appointments. At all. DH is going to call tomorrow and see if it's just a glitch with the online booking system. I hope so.

I got my referral in December after my 2nd mc, rang straight away and couldnt get in till Feb, I just suppose it will all come down to how busy they are and I know there was also the issue that I hadnt been to him since 2001 (saw him as a gyno back then) so I was classed as a new patient basically.

Hi

I've just been referred using the new choose and book system. By the time my appt comes up, it'll be about a months since seeing my GP.
Hope you don't have to wait too long
xx

Thanks for the replys, we're at the docs 2mor, for my 21 day bloods, and getting OH's 2nd SA results back, so hopfully we'll get somewhere after i get my results back.

I was referred by my GP on January 7th and had first appointment with FS on Feb 3rd. Expected it to be longer so was delighted. It's just nice to feel that at least I'm on the road to getting somewhere even if it's a very rocky one sometimes!!!
