FF in night how do you do yours?

i am starting to give LO some formula now to increase her weight gain and had the midwife come today to weigh her again (as she lost a lot) and she told me (as my son is 5 and she said things with formula have changed since then) that the recommended way to do formula now is to add the powder to boiling water and then cool and they can be left out for 2 hours but not to be made up and stored in fridge. she said they say to add powder to boiling water as the powder is not steralised and so the bpiling water kills off anything. she said that formula fed babies are more prone to gastro something problems and so its for this that they say this.

anyone else had this said??

Yes, you are right- it is supposed to be added to hot water - freshly boiled.

Anna is having 6oz bottles at the moment. At night I take 2 bottles upstairs. 1 empty and 1 has 4 oz cooled boiled water in. When she wakes to be fed I boil a small amt of water in kettle - takes 1 minute - pour 2 oz hot water into empty bottle and add 6 scoops of powder and then add the 4oz cooled water from the other bottle.

So, this way it only takes 1 minute and is made the recommended way - fresh when needed and powder into hot water:flower:

I do the flask thing with bottles made up with 4 oz boiled water that has cooled, then add another 2 oz up to six in the night with the formula to make it the right temp x

im naughty, my lo only has one bottle throughout the night, i pre make it and then leave it by his cot. He takes it room temperature. I dont sterilise anymore as he is past 6 months and crawling around and picking god knows off the floor and shoving it in his mouth so i dont see the point!

Yeah I was thinking it could be done that way.

At the moment LO is small and only having 2 ounces a feed and i am mixing it with an ounce of breastmilk which comes out of the fridge so that makes it the right temp already.

but think will do your way once she is having more and there is no more expressed breastmilk to add which i am sure will be soon!
