my ds is 3 months old and has been breastfed up until now, HV has recomended topping him up with formula cos he is constanly hungry!
i just need some help with the easiest way to make formula during the night.
To add to my stress we're going to stay with family next week an it just aint going to be possible to nip to the kitchen every 2 hours to make a bottle.
I read some where that you can put boiled water into bottles and keep a bottle in the bottle warmer then just add the formula when i need the bottle, is this ok?

The easiest thing to do whilst you're away may be to use cartons.

When I gave Emma night feeds I would keep the made-up bottle chilled in a cooler (with an ice pack) next to the bed and warm it when needed.

You may want to test the waters before you go out and buy loads of formula and bottles as some EBF babies don't take too well to a bottle. My LO never had this problem (I BF'ed and pumped before moving over to FF), but my SIL's LO won't take a bottle at all (she tried to introduce a bottle at 4-5 months).

I always boiled my water, let it cool, made up a batch of bottles, and put them in the fridge at the beginning of each day. I would heat them up individually in the microwave for a few seconds (I know you are not supposed to, but I am very careful and make sure to swirl the bottle a bit to avoid hot spots). This has always worked for us.

I will say I agree with the previous poster that if you are only doing top-ups then I would buy the ready made formula. It's expensive if you are FF full time, but if it just a bit of formula then this makes life a lot easier.

Good luck!
