finding out the gender...

I'm in a bit of a conundrum (where's Carol Vorderman when you need her?!). This is going to be hubby and I's 3rd and final baby. With the first 2 we found out the gender. This time we said we would wait until the birth as it's our last it would be nice to experience a surprise. This was all very well and good until I was told I may have to have the baby early and it may/may not be poorly when born. Because of this I think I would feel more comfortable knowing the sex so we can be prepared incase s/he does have to come earlier than expected. We had planned on going on a mini shop after getting out of hospital to buy clothes but if s/he is poorly or has been then we're not going to want to do that. I've said to hubby that I could find out and not tell him. I'd just put anything gender specific in the baby's wardrobe and he just wasn't to go in there. He's fine with that and wouldn't ever be tempted to peek (unlike me :) ). The other part of me would love to know what it's like to not know until the birth. Just don't know what to do.

For those who have found out with one baby but not another how does it differ? Did it feel more exciting not knowing?

I'm all confuzzled
