First labor and birth compared to second labor and birth?

My first labor was spontaneous and 16 hours from start to finish, I heard second babies are a little bigger than the first and labors last half as long. Obviously it's not gonna be true for everyone, but I wanted to see if anyone had an experience like this..I'm hoping it's true for me!

Worked that way for me.

I was in labour for around 17 hours with DD1. From first contraction to her being born. Ended up with forceps. She was 7lb 15oz.

DD2 I was in labour for 5 hours. Waters broke and she was born 10 minutes later. Best labour by far. Only had a small graze too. She was 8lb exactly.

Sadly this wasn't true for me. I had a very long early labour with my first labour and had contractions for four days before I was officially in active labour. Active labour was about 9 hours from 4pm til 1am.

Second time had no long drawn out early labour. First contraction hit at 8pm and baby born at 9.12am the following morning. Active stage was about the same though at 9hours. My second baby was back to back though, all the midwives said if he had been the right way around he would have been much quicker.

First labour was 12 hours from first pain to baby coming. Baby was 7lb 12oz boy.

Second labour was 1hr mins from waking up in full blown labour to baby been born. I got to the hospital 20 mins before baby arrived. Baby was 9lb 6oz girl and also had shoulder dystocia.

My second labour was horrific! It was so fast and painful I would have taken the 12 hour labour anyday!

I would hope for a quicker labour but not too quick ��

True for me
First labour 15h second 9h (from first contraction to actual delivery)

DD was also heavier than my first born DS.
Both spontanous birth, but first time hadpethadine and hated it
Second time i was more relaxed and been in midwife led unit using only gas and air and been in water, fantastic birth experience

It was partly true for me.

First was 3 days late, about 30 hours from first contraction to birth, and was 8 lbs 8 oz.

Second was 10 days late, 4 and a half hours from first contraction to birth, and was 7 lbs 5 oz.

My first labour was 33 hours and the second 90 minutes! The little lady came so quickly she ended up being delivered by her daddy on the living room rug. She was also 7lb 14, so slightly smaller than my son who was 8lb 1.

Was alot quicker with my second.

Both my first and him were exactly the same at 7lb 11oz x

First boy: 28 hours, 15 mins of pushing, 6 days late, 2nd degree tear, 8 lb 11 oz

Second boy: 14 hours, 8 mins of pushing, 10 days early, 1st degree tear, 7 lb 0 oz

Second was better :-D

Wow! I'm happy for shorter labors..I pushed for an hour but I felt like I had an easier labor and birth than most. I hope baby #2 is the same..and that I get to meet him s a few hours earlier haha. Hopefully I don't go into labor at night again I was so exhausted!

Boy one 13&half hour labour pushing 2 hours 9lb 5oz

Boy two 6 hours labour pushing 45 mins 9lb 1oz

Boy three was on delivery just over a hour he was born less than a hour after my waters went I was 6cm when I got to delivery he was 8lb 4oz
My labours have got quicker n easier n babies smaller X

First was an 8.5 hour labour. 4 hour pushing stage ending in ventouse in hospital. Tried a water birth and I think it slowed my contractions down, also he was in a difficult position. Weighed 6lb 14oz.

Second 5 hours with a 10 minute pushing stage. At home, very relaxed. Weighed 8lb 5oz.

Both started with my waters breaking.

My first labour was 10 hours and 7 minutes from 1st contraction to baby being born, 1.5 hours pushing, 1 day before due date, 2 internal grazes, 8lbs 2oz

Second labour was 6 hours 47 minutes from 1st contraction to baby being born, 15 minutes pushing, 6 days before due date, 1 internal graze, 8lbs exactly

First labour - total contractions lasted 38 hours, was classed as active labour for 9 hours before pushing out DD in exactly 1 hour weighing 6lb12.5oz
Second labour - waters went, then total contractions lasted 13 hours, was classed as active labour for 10 hours, before pushing out DS in 50 mins weighing 8lb2oz. The midwife did say the pushing stage was hindered because I was so swollen down there!
So the hard part was much worse with second especially as I didn't get epidural until I was 8cm - 7 hours after being classed as 'active'. First labour much slower to get things going so was exhausted but active stage was much more enjoyable as I couldn't feel any pain from about an hour in as being classed as active x

I was browsing new posts on my phone so excuse me for intruding in Baby Club...

My first labour was 38 hours in total and over an hour pushing, and ended up being removed via forceps. He was 8lb 3oz.

My second labour was 9 hours total, 8 minutes pushing and she was just 7lb 1oz.

First labour - active labour approx 17 hours with 2 hours of pushing. Labour was back to back
Epidural. Very difficult. Put me off birth again. 6 lbs 14 Oz girl.

Second labour - (after days of early labour) active labour was only 5 hours with 15 minutes pushing. Much easier birth. Awesome experience. Second daughter. Gas and air. 7 lbs 7oz.

First labour 13 hours, 1 hour pushing, 8 pound 1 oz baby boy (on due date).

Second labour 3.5 hours, 6 mins pushing, 8 pound 3 oz girl (12 days overdue).

My second labour was a bit shorter but not very much. First baby was 7lbs and second baby was 9 lbs 11.5 oz!

Quicker and easier second time round, even with number 2 being 8.5lbs compared to 5lbs for baby number 1. Dilation was much the same, but he was out within a couple of pushes, and no episiotomy required 2nd time round.

2nd boy- 1.5 hours 9lb 1

this one is a girl so im wondering if that makes a difference, i'm not looking forward to her being bigger AND coming in like 20 mins haha. :/
