We didn't bother to change lo On to follow milk as i think follow on milk is a bit of a con, but I've now been thinking, should I? She doesn't put on weight very well and is still small for her age so now I'm wondering is follow on milk is more fattening then first milk or not?
I don't want to switch her if it won't make much diffence? we already try giving her more fatty foods like hv suggested but I thought milk could maybe help too.

Thanks xx

There really isnt much of a difference between them, i never bothered with follow on and Brooke had SMA Gold for 12 months, my HV said if i was happy then there was no need to change.

I would have thought that the first milks were better than follow on regarding weight gain though :)

Follow on milk is a bit of a con; they claim it just has more concentrated levels of iron and vitamins in so you need less milk volume than first milk, but thats all. I have checked the nutrition information in the past and the follow on milks tended to be less 'fatty' and calorific than the first milks. Have you seen your GP or asked to be referred to a paediatrician or dietician about the poor weight gain as there could be underlying causes, and certain foods can really help to gain weight but you really could do with some professional advice.
