First month ttc #1 and already obsessed!!

Hi everyone! First post here...and I am in the same boat as you guys. I came off the pill in March but we were using condoms until last month when we decided to start trying. It is a very slippery and downhill slope to obsession! I was planning on being very casual about it but I caved and bought an OPK last month and was timing things on my period tracker on the Iphone. We did everything at the right time but still AF came just a few days ago. Boo.

Now I cant stop looking up random things on the web and wondering if I am infertile even though this is only Cycle #2! To make things worse, my cycles are around 31-32 days long so that is extra waiting for me. To top it off... three close co-workers of mine are pregnant! I regret telling them that we are trying because now I feel that they are waiting for me to get pregnant too.

I am really trying to take a more relaxed approach this month and trying not to turn baby-making into a stressful thing. It's hard though!

Welcome to the obsessing chiclet2012!!

Try not to stress that you are infertile - I think we all have those thoughts but you can't let it get out of hand, you will just stress to the point where things slow down! Boo for the witch but new cycle, new exciting month

karenlyn - I hope it is ov, thanks, you have reassured me a bit that it may be!! It is scary though, the pain was horrible! Must have been a big egg :haha:

I feel better off bcp too! just generally happier. Although last month before AF I got unexplained rage really bad!! It was dreadful!

How you you temp if that isn't asking a daft question?? I am a bit put off that it may be a lot of hassle!

richiesgal - You take your temperature with a basal thermometer every morning before you get out of bed, move, eat, drink, use the bathroom, before anything. Have it on your night stand. You have to take it at the same time every day, including weekends. This you can track it on a chart (there are many websites where you can make a chart) and month by month you will see a trend where your temp spikes. You should actually start DTD before your temp spikes at by the time it rises, it may be too late. But after a few months you should be able to predict the spike if you have regular cycles. I hope this helps..

I tried this for a few months, but I wake up at 5am on the week days for work and could not get myself to keep waking up at 5am on the weekends to temp. I used an opk last month. Not sure if I will use one again this month or not. It predicted my o, then af came 6 days later... not sure what's up with all that... I took a HPT this morning and got a bfn which I expected, but I just needed to check as I had x-rays done at the dentist this morning.

Does anyone have any experience using vitex? I am wondering if this will help with irregularity.

:dust: to all you beautiful mommies to be some day!!

^wss! :) It really does sound like a lot of work, though. But since it's my first month off BCP, I want to know IF my body is ovulating... and it sounds like temping is the only way to be sure.

I just yelled at my husband that I did NOT want to discuss the subject he was harping on about, so it appears that post-birth-control Karen is not all sugar and sunshine. Ha!

Never heard of vitex. Is it a prescription medicine or some kind of supplement?

That's fab thank you

I will think about getting one but I may have the same issue as you - I don't get up as early on a weekend as I do for work during the week.

I've never heard of Vitex either - sorry!

Karenlyn - the rage is never far away when you are a woman, sadly for our OHs!!! :haha: It is one thing asking my hubby to put up with it but I think the lads at work were a bit on the scared side bless them!!!

I haven't started temping yet, but when I do I think I'll just set my alarm for my usual time, check my temp, enter it into the note function thingy on my mobile, and go back to sleep...

Though I have read that you don't actually need to do it at the same time every day? That as long as you get at least 3 hours of sleep first, you can take it, and it can be adjusted for "real time." Not sure if it's true or not, but might be worth looking into.

That's a good plan, I never thought of that :dohh:

I have zero common sense!! :haha:

LOL! Oh well... that's what the forums are good for. We're all dumb about some things, haha.

Actually, I hope you'll get your BFP this cycle and will never even have to start temping. :) Fx'd!

Thanks!! :)

And same to you...... I can't wait I really can't! this long cycle is doing my head in!

Vitex is an herbal supplement that is supposed to help make your cycles more regular. I seen a few posts in some of these forums that people are taking it to try to make their cycles more regular. I think I would def want to check with my dr before starting anything like this. I take thyroid meds every day so I have to be really careful with vitamins and supplements. KT :coffee:

I thought I was the only obssessed one out there!! I honestly didn't think I'd get this crazy about TTC. But I guess that's because I didn't think about it before. Now I know all this lingo and TMI about my cm and cp! Lol. I never thought I'd be checking my underwear or TP every time I go to the bathroom..but I do! I saw a faint line on my OPK yesterday for the 1st time and I started squeeling like a little girl! Then I realized I probably looked like a dork because it was just a faint line..on an OPK. IDK what I'll do when I check today and see/hope it's darker lol.

haha yep

It is getting to the point where I look forward to going to the loo incase of surprise increased cm (TMI?? sorry!)

I did the same with my opk faint line!! :haha:

Good luck with the hunt for cm/pregnancy symptoms / positive opks and the fabulous :bfp:!!!

haha, this made me laugh out loud. For non-TTCers, surprises in the loo are a BAD thing!

Totally there with you girls, until you start TTC you really have no idea how much it entails!

Welcome to the crazy train!

I never in my LIFE thought that I would be paying SO much attention to CM!

We do what we gotta do. And if that includes having our own fingers somewhere everyday, multiple times a day and checking the outcome..so be it..:haha:

I totally agree! If nothing else it helps pass the time!!

It is making me super confused at the moment though, every day seems different with no obvious pattern and still no EWCM - I am going slowly mad I think!!!

Hello, I am 29 and DF is 30. We are ttc #1 and this is our first month trying. Our wedding is next month but we decided to start ttc now just to get a jump start since it may take awhile from what I've read.

I can't believe how crazy I have been about all of this and it's only the first month. I started temping at the beginning of this cycle and I didn't even know what temping was last month, lol!! I can't stop looking things up online and obsessing over every little thing.

How do you ladies handle this?? Help, I feel like a psycho, haha.

I am 10 DPO, I think, (that is what Fertility Friend says) and I tested this morning and got a BFN. Every day is going in slow motion.

Hun I was in exactly the same position as you in April. Got married early this month. Started trying in April, was literally so obsessed with it all that I stressed myself out so much I didn't O. Don't make the same mistake I did. After a string of BFNs in April I thought 'sod it!' and so just lived my life, concentrated on the wedding plans etc. In May, O'd cd 18, had already BD on cd 16, thought, well, it could happen. Got my BFP on honeymoon. Now 5.5 weeks preggers. BEST OF LUCK, DON'T THINK ABOUT IT TOO MUCH, ENJOY YOUR HUBBY, IT WILL HAPPEN xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi ladies, gonna join you over here! nice to see we are all a bit loopy and its not just me! haha. i didn't know anything last month, but this month im temping, using opks, checking cm and all sorts of stuff!! crazy! sometimes i think i should just pretend i know nothing and just bd every second day (which we do most of the time anyway) to cut out the stress of ttc, but on the other hand I want to know what my body is doing so that I know if and when I'm o'ing! if oh knew how obsessed I was he would laugh at me!! lol. He knows im temping but thats about it!
