I have yet to see my ob/gyn. I have been working with an RE. The ob/gyn is closed on Fridays, so I will have to wait to make my initial appointment.

So I was wondering, how often are you all visiting your docs? Do they lay out some sort of schedule, are there more appointments for older women, and how often are you guys getting scanned?

I will sort of miss having my RE scan me all the time. It cost plenty (totally out-of-pocket), but it was worth a lot to better know what was going on.

My first appointment was last week, at week 8 and they did an ultrasound and we got to see the little bean and hear a heartbeat. Then we go back once a month until 28 weeks and go back every 2 weeks from that point on.

I have type 2 diabetes, so I'll have to go in a few extra times for blood work and whatnot and maybe some extra scans, but I don't mind. I also work at a hospital, so thankfully it's all covered because it does sound like a bunch of doctor visits we have coming our way.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping for more scans in the first tri! But I guess monthly does make better sense.

Seems very lucky to be working at a hospital at a time like this!

Hi, I had my first prenatal visit at 9 weeks. I had a quick US to make sure everything was ok and then had my NT scan at 13 weeks. From that point on out I'll have appts every 4 weeks but I did have an appt today at 16 weeks just to get on track. My next appt in 4 weeks will be the anatomy scan. I don't think they'll do another scan after 20 weeks for awhile unless something is wrong.
