five year old missing!!

haven't posted on the thread in awhile.

But i really don't think they are every going to find this poor little girl. Another mccann case. What do you think? I really hope they will find her for her parents sake

I'm still suspicious of McCann's parents. I'm sorry. It just doesn't add up there, but that's another case.

This is true can anyone shed some light with me tho how come in maddiline a case the press/Portuguese police were allowed to disclose evidence found but in april case they are not untill the trial?

Different countries/different laws.

Because different countries have different laws. Portugal must not have laws that stop the press releasing stuff before trial whereas the UK does in order to offer a fair trial. Plus it is different as no one was charged in the Madeline Mccann case whereas Mark was arrested very early on and then charged early on too.

And much of the McCann evidence was released when her parents won the right to all the case files.

Ok thanks ladies I just would of thought it would of been an EU law as their very fond of their human rights lol

I think with Portugal laws they release the files after a certain amount of time. But I don't think all of them were released.

Very distantly related and it says because of the witnesses age the case should be heard quicker.

I hope they find her soon :(

Here is the article that ChloesMummy wanted to share https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uk...ies-between-Mark-Bridger-and-April-Jones.html

It seems that April's half-sisters are cousins to Mark's children, so Mark would of been seen as uncle to her half-sisters at some point.

I had a feeling there would be a family tie with this................just surprised it isn't something 'less distant'!

On the plus side, the intervening months will hopefully mean that April is found, which will make securing a conviction easier.

Or not. There could be evidence that her death was accidental. The act would be there, but they have to prove he had forethought or intent to kill April to make a higher crime stick. It's all very complicated once it gets to the legal level.

Well, if the death was accidental, the charge will change from murder to manslaughter....or.....Actually, just had a lightbulb moment, perhaps the reason there is a PCOJ charge is in case it was accidental but someone panicked and hid her. I'm sure PCOJ has been used in those circumstances in other cases

Could be! See you are becoming top inspector too now! :winkwink:

I'm still so sad they haven't found April, haven't had the news on today .. Are they still searching? I just have a horrible feeling they are not going to find her.

I also thought there would be a closer family link with mark and the family...Hmmm

I haven't read the current replies, I still can't believe she hasn't been found

What will happen at his trial in January? Is it one where they will have a jury?

January will be where he goes to either plea guilty or not guilty to the charges agaisnt him depending on what he pleas will lead the next course of action

It still bugs me that she didn't say his name to her friend who witnessed it if he was that close to the family but instead she said 'I know them'

That bothers me in a different way, im not sure April actually said 'I know them'. Perhaps the 7yo witness, when relaying the event, said that April told her it was ok because she knew them. Ie: the 7yo words not Aprils actual wording

I wouldn't necessarily say I know x, y or z though, I would also say I know them, or him, or her when talking to someone about a third party

This is a very good point surely she would of said its ok its Mark or *****'s dad sorry can't remember his daughters name. I know my kids would of at that age especially infront of friends as it would of made them look really grown up and *cool* to know older people who wanted to give them a lift.

They take this into consideration when interviewing and questioning child witnesses. :flower:

I know especially as she had been on a day trip with him and his kids not long before she would of been used to calling him by his name

I don't really understand what you mean by your reply?

I was just pointing out that 'its ok I know them' has been widely reported as Aprils actual worlds when they may have been the 7yo's interpretation of what was actually said. There has been a lot of speculation, here and elsewhere, about April saying them and not mark, but it is only the press who have told us she said it as ok she knew them, that doesn't mean it was Aprils actual words at the time.

.

The other day with my dh we bumped into someone I know through work, the person came up behind me and kind of shouted in my ear and dh kind of looked as if to say wtf, at that point I said 'What? I know them' I didn't say 'what? I know Richard'

Sorry Ozzie, I do understand what you ment, I think the police will know what was said and by who, the press are driving me nuts putting words in people's mouths and reporting what they think as gospel :flower:
