five year old missing!!

They spoke to people in the village he lives in which is actually a few miles away. Full of retired people. One neighbour described how he spoke to him at the bus stop while they waited for a bus once. Strange since he has a car. Just thoughts.

Thanks redhead. Very interesting hearing the legal side of things. I think most of us are going on what we see on crime programs! Well I know I am!!

No problem.

If anyone has any questions along the way then I'll do my level best to answer them.

What I can assure everyone of is that the sense of frustration about these matters is felt just as keenly by the professionals dealing with it as everybody else. Everyone has the same aim, with the possible exception of a defence solicitor whose professional interest lies with his client, although I'm sure they want April home safe just as much in a personal capacity.

Me too!

If they have to let him go, say something new came up the same day can they arrest him again and hold him for the same time again?

Watching sky news with cameras actually tracking the search. Seems strange as surely they could come across something they wouldn't want broadcasted live?

I've been watching that too I'm sure if they spot anything they will have a code word/gesture to turn the camera off

Hadn't thought of that.

Put simply, no. There are calculators that are used to work out how long you can hold somebody in custody.

The time limits are there for a reason - it is to stop people being held indefinitely without charge (Terrorism rules differ slightly). If the Police cannot glean enough evidence from 96 hours of detention, questions rightly need to be asked about the reasons being given to hold a suspect further.

What would be more likely is conditional bail would be granted and the suspect required to return to the station at a set date and time, or requested to attend before this if the need should arise. Further questioning could then take place, however a decision would need to be made at that point whether to charge or not - a merry-go-round just isn't permitted - either the Police have gathered the evidence or they have not, a suspect is just that until tried.

I think they are probably on a timed delay in broadcasting incase anything happens then they can quickly stop broadcasting..if anyone saw the news the other day of fox news channel accidentally.broadcastibg a suicide?
I asked my oh who is a cameraman and he said its normal for there to be a few seconds time delay incase of anything x

Are public volunteers still searching or are they still called off cant find any recent information on that?

There will be a slight delay I would have though. Even 1 minute would be enough to ensure nothing untoward is shown x

They've said volunteers are welcome.

I cant work out if you're being sarcastic or not. I don't mean anything particularly sinister, just anything really. If they came across even so much as a childs shoe that had been there for a while (not Aprils) I don't know how many people would feel comfortable seeing that.

But as a PP said, the camera would probably be turned off.

 I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I'm saying that when they think they are going to find something, they normally turn cameras away for a while. So it's good they haven't. Sorry?
