Oh my god, that was not something I wanted to hear That poor little girl, I so hope that the police's suspicions are wrong but I still have that horrible feeling of dread in my gut.

If she has passed, I just hope that he does the right thing at last and tells the police where she is.

I think the important wording is "arrested on suspicion" they haven't charged him maybe because they don't have the evidence or they are hoping that doing this gets more information from people who are maybe to scared to come forward or that he will now tell them where she is in the hope she is still alive and won't get done for murder. Either way i feel so bad for the parents and family of little April.

That's the term they use when they arrest someone for anything. They are still innocent until otherwise proven.

They won't have made the arrest for any reason other than they think he has done it, sorry to be blunt but the hope she is still alive thing has passed now

Kay Burley was outside the community centre and had spoken to 2 volunteers,she asked them their reaction to the news,they didn't know and she had to tell them live on air one of them burst into tears.


If Sky don't back off I think millions of people are going to witness something being found in the river...x

I am terrified, poor poor april and her poor family...I feel so much for her mother she looks like she wanted to give up on life altogether on that conference the other day, goodness knows how she feels now

I don't get this. What would make them change what he was arrested on, would he have had to confess or could they have found something? But what would they need to find to change it to murder? I don't understand!!

I think they will charge him even if they don't find her. But then he may be found not guilty in court?

Likely they have found forensics which led them to say this. A charge is now imminent I believe.

Redhead - do you think he was arrested originally about her disappearance & then what he was arrested on then changed in light of evidence or what he has said?

Quite possibly as the arrest will correspond with the charge they are looking at.

I think it's time the media backed off a bit.. People are devastated and need time to process the information. They may also make a discovery which is going to be an extremely sensitive time. Not only is it going to affect all the residents but also the search team and police etc. It just feels all a bit too intrusive now

They are now looking for a body not April alive

What I understand some evidence must of come to light for them to now believe she is no longer alive I.E pieces of her clothing
