It doesn't work like that I'm afraid - child abduction is a serious enough offence to get custody time limits extended anyway.

I think the important wording is "arrested on suspicion" they haven't charged him maybe because they don't have the evidence or they are hoping that doing this gets more information from people who are maybe to scared to come forward or that he will now tell them where she is in the hope she is still alive and won't get done for murder. Either way i feel so bad for the parents and family of little April.
