For a rearrest, and also the extenstion then they (and the judge) must beleeve there is at least a chance that he did it.

Kay Burley was outside the community centre and had spoken to 2 volunteers,she asked them their reaction to the news,they didn't know and she had to tell them live on air one of them burst into tears.


If Sky don't back off I think millions of people are going to witness something being found in the river...x

Just heard he has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Poor girl. I hope they find her soon to bring some kind of comfort to her family. Just terrible xx

I think it's time the media backed off a bit.. People are devastated and need time to process the information. They may also make a discovery which is going to be an extremely sensitive time. Not only is it going to affect all the residents but also the search team and police etc. It just feels all a bit too intrusive now

Is there no way it can be purely the passage of time that's changed the arrest? As in if he's hidden her there's no way she can be alive still so it's murder now?

It is nice of Kay Burley to break the news to those two people. How awkward. I'm guessing they have found some evidence which suggests she is no longer alive. This is so sad, Im just holding on to Summer.

I don't get this. What would make them change what he was arrested on, would he have had to confess or could they have found something? But what would they need to find to change it to murder? I don't understand!!

It could of been something he said, something they found, forensics back from the car or house.

Did anyone hear that man speaking about clothes? I missed some of it.

I think they will charge him even if they don't find her. But then he may be found not guilty in court?

I think he was saying that they *may* of found clothes for example.

They will only charge if they have other evidence if they dont have find her.

So now they have arrested him does this mean they can hold him as long as they like till they find enough evidence to charge him or is there a time limit?

The time limit is still until 5pm tonight unless they apply for more time, but it will still be the maximum of tomorrow because the time is not reset at a re-arrest.

the clothes thing they said when asked if found any instead of saying no police said no comment which means they may have found something and are analyzing it to see if it is aprils

i think because they area is so small, and they have searched near enough everywhere they jumping to conclusions and thinking there looking for a body now. she could still be very much alive somewhere closer then they think.

Im also still wondering if maybe there is another person involved still, and yes Mark helped but has confessed maybe to let the other person get off free? With the girl maybe alive? Which means people are looking for a DB rather than a little girl making it easier for an accomplice to get her to where ever they want...

I hope she is found and her parents get concrete answers though. With no body there is no 100% she is dead ever.. Blood of hers could be found but may just be from an injury.. ( I watch too much CSI/NCIS/Law and order/etc)

I loved the lady being interviews by the sky news reporter... She said straight away she wasn't believing it to be murder till they found her. Amazing to be so positive in these circumstances.

I'm afraid that I think to change what he'a arrested on suspicion of & make that public, like others have said something must have been found that makes the option of her being alive impossible. In the McCann case it's still not a murder investigation so it can't be passage of time. It is v likely forensics.

I doubt it, because they couldnt rule out someone else being involved therefore someone could of been keeping her warm, dry, fed etc.

I dont think the police would jump to conclusions, and they certainly wouldnt prepare a family for the death of their child without truly having reaso (as in evidence) to make them think this is what happened.

I dont know, but if you mean in regards to Mark Bridger or who ever did it, you dont need to find her to prosecute although it does make it harder.

If he confessed then I am pretty sure it would of been charged with her murder not a re-arrest.
