i sent a letter off requesting a set rota over a 2 week period mainly lates and every outher weekend, ive got to go to a meeting about it, from the way the letter is worded i think they are going to refuse
i need help, what can i do if they refuse, i appeal and they still refuse???
if i left after this could i go too a tribunal for sex discrimination and unreasonable requests????
its soooo shit and is making me incredibly stressed

All i know is that they have to have a very good business reason to refuse.

Hope it goes well x

Some useful info on this site:

Goodluck:thumbup:

can you get someone to go with you? I think you are entitled to a representative? Maybe someone from CAB or a legal person? Might make them think tiwce if you are going to take it further
good luck
x

can only take a colleague in with me, i checked this out and its legal :(

I just did the same thing with my work. They have to have a ligitamate reason to refuse your request. If they refuse and you appeal they do still have the right to again refuse it and as long as they can prove they have tried to accomodate you then there isnt anything at all that you can do. Is it a big or a small company that you work for?

its an expanding company, supporting adults with learning disabilities within the community so its a 24hour 7 days a week business.
meetings next monday will let you all know how i get on

well i had the meeting they dont think they can accomodate my shift plan :(
im going to take it as far as i can

Hey tricky nicky....I'm in a similar situation :(

Its shitty isn't it....I'm actually off work with stress at the moment because of it. My work will agree to me working part time but the hours they will agree to will not fit in with childcare at all, and I think I might have to leave the company. Scary as I'm going to be a single mum :( I personally don't think my work are being flexible enough so I am going to appeal. However I didn't make my request official - my work is so informal, I basically just verbally asked my boss. So I'm now going to make my request in writing and take it from there.

Anyway, I've been really looking into this since I've been off sick and I don't think you can take the company to a tribunal unless you feel that the company haven't followed the legal procedure. If they've done everything by the book and given you a valid business reason then I don't think you can do much about it. However...you can always try.

Have you appealed? I would definitely give it a go if you haven't already done it. Good luck and I'd be really interested to see how you do get on with this so keep me updated :flower: xx
