yup, if nothing by cd25 i'll be booking an appt to see the doc again & get some clomid started. in Jan we will hit 1yr ttc.

hmm - maybe it is the Soy that's affecting your temps?

And I defo think the Drs is the right move - some clomid would be FAB!
Just what you need to sort those temps out - it'd be so wonderful to see those temps shoot up - knowing that you've Ovd!

We're on cycle 12 right now and its a killer - I thought I'd be properly preggo by now :growlmad:
I've decided I'm moving my journal over to LTTTC if we don't catch it this time round...

I'm hoping this belongs in this thread. If not I'm so sorry.
So I'm faced with a moral dilema. I have in front of me 2 rounds of Clomid. They are from a neighbor of mine who needed them to conceive her baby. She did 1 cycle and got pregnant. She gave them to me when she found out my husband and I were having problems. My dilema is whether I should try these pills or wait the 6-8 months for Doc to prescribe them to me. I'v read a lot about how it's good to be doctor monitored while taking this medication. My neighbor says it's really nothing to worry about. She thinks I'll take them and get pregnant right away just like her. I soooo want to believe her! I'm going back and forth in my mind. My desperation battling my common sense. Anyone have any advice or even a personal opinion they feel like sharing? I could use an outside opinion. My husband thinks I should take them and so does my neighbor. I'm still undecided, but I'm leaning towards taking them for obvious reasons. Thanks in advance for your help :)

And thanks Kelly9, you inspired me to create the snowy baby dust graphic :)

oh wow! If I had magic baby pills in-front of me - I'd take them in a shot!

They're tried and tested and so commonly used I'd think they're OK.
Of course - I've no idea about the side-effects but if one of them is making a baby....

My gut instinct would be - GO FOR IT!
but only if you're prepared for multiple babies.

oooh I'm all jealous - I want Clomid too

I'm sure there must be a clomid group on here - maybe ask them about it - for a more balanced opinion than....

:wohoo: DO IT DO IT DO IT :wohoo:
(soz - just excited for you 'cos you've got a chance to DO something - all be it potentially quite a dangerous something!)

so what're you thinking? what are your pros and cons?

LOL I'm glad you're so excited. It's making me more excited and less anxious about the idea. And how did you know I was making a Pro/Con list?
This is my list so far:

Pros
-Possible ovulation equalling possible pregnancy
(that one is worth more than 1 point for sures)
-No cost/ money saving
-No waiting 6-8 months just for Dr. visit
(that doesn't include any wait time after that)
-Actually having a reason to chart and use opk's
(currently I'm annovulatory)
-Less stress all around

Cons
-No Dr. Monitoring
-Possibility of OHSS
-Possibility of an underlying fertility problem that could be affected by the medication

I think my list is either bias or there really are more Pros.

Well OHSS would only be a tiny tiny risk with clomid. If you do take them try 50 mg's for one month first. If they are 100mg pills cut them in half. I wasn't monitored when I was on clomid. If you feel safe doing it then I say go for it but if you need to go to the hospital for any reason just make sure you disclose that you took them you don't have to say it wasn't your prescription but you want them to know everything. Just don't tell family doc lol. Also read the pamphlet that comes with the pills that lists who shouldn't take them for example if you have any other health issues. Also check for drug interactions online if you are taking any other kind of meds. It would be best if you were taking no other meds at all.

Good luck and I love your siggy.

Ya the pills are only 50mg so I wouldn't need to cut them. I was doing some research on OHSS last night and I agree with you that the risk is pretty low. I'm not taking any other prescription meds. Just some prenatal vitamins and a Hormonal Balance vitamin (vitex, saw palmetto, milk thistle, red raspberry leaf, etc...). I would probably stop taking the hormonal balance before trying the clomid. Even though it's a natural supplement interactions can occur I'm sure. I'v pretty much decided that I'm going to give them a try unless something changes my mind in between now and my next period. Which could be a while unfortunatly. With such irregular cycles I could be waiting 3 or more months. Boo :(

Maybe in 2010 I'll get a sig like yours Kelly9, with a growing baby :)

that's great news - I'd definitely do the same.
Love the pros list - its much better than the cons!
When do you think you'll be able to start taking them?

I hope your cycle starts sooner then that! And yes having the growing baby sig is nice, I definitely waited long enough for it as most of us in this group have. Good luck.

Hello all! I was hoping I could join your team. A bit of background on me...my OH (32) and I (26) have been NTNP since June. We live in Florida. I don't recall having any kind of normal cycle ever. I was on BCPs for over 4 years. After the withdrawal bleeding I didn't have a period for three months and went to the doctor. She gave me a prescription for Prometrium which I took 2 pills every night for 10 days to bring on AF. Doc told me to take it every month for 4 months to see if it would kick start my natural cycle. My last AF was Nov. 17 and doc said if I don't see AF after one month to call for another appt. I have never temped or charted, but yesterday I finally bought some OPKs off Amazon. OH and I have teetered back and forth on actually getting pregnant and I think we're both ON the wagon. OH has an 8yo son who lives up North with his mom and we both miss him terribly, especially now that the holidays are here. I'll be turning 27 in January and I just feel like it's time although I will miss my freedom...it will be so worth it. Baby dust to all!!

Hello you!

Have they tested you for PCOS?
Do'nt want to worry you but that's the biggest cause of irregular AF
I was on the pill for 10 years and when I came off it my cycles were all over the place.
THe dr sent me for a scan and 2 weeks later I was having a very cysty Ovary removed!

well - I hope the tablets work for you but if they don't - ask for an ultrasound!

whats your status then? TTC but not TTC - is it more on the TTC side now? xxx

Cazd you only have one ovary? Or they took a cyst off one ovary?

Hi Cazd! Yeah, I think we're more on the TTC side now. An ultra sound is the next step according to the doc. I just have to wait it out for right now. I am not even I am OVing, but once I get my OPKs I'll be testing. I am concerned what they will find, but I have my spirits high right now and I think everything is going at the right pace. No big rush, but I'd me over the moon if I did get my :bfp:!

:dust: to all!

Cazd you only have one ovary? Or they took a cyst off one ovary?

They took the whole ovary away - it had become one massive cyst - it was HUGE when they took it out - as big as a haggis!
and covered in black hair - but apparently it didn't have any nails or teeth

TySonNMe - 5 days 'till testing - you never know!!!
well glad things are moving for you at least - bit by bit they'll chip away 'till they find something they can fix xxx

I didn't realize that cazd. Whats a haggis lol?

haggis - you serious? or are you pulling my leg?
cos if you don't know what a haggis is then prepare yourself...
Its a scottish dish - blood, barley and all sorts of offal bound up in a sheeps stomach. (about the size of a bag of sugar or a small melon)
And it sounds  but it really is Lovely!
I used to love that and black pudding but now I'm a veggie its off the menu!
(black pudding - is blood and fat in a sausage!)

Ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!! That does sound gross. I had blood sausage once in France and almost puked.

 I guess it is a bit of a shock the first time you hear about it!

Thanks cazd! Maybe I'll get my :bfp: this month...then the baby would be due right before OH's son left for the summer...that would be so nice! I have my fingers crossed! :dust: to everyone!!
