Hi,
I have a FS appointment on Tuesday. What will happen?
I will be cd4 when I go so won't be able to have any examinations.
What should I take with me?
I was thinking, the forms of course lol & hubby!!! Also cycle lengths & LP lengths & my charts. Will they be interested in charts? Or will they think I've been silly and obsessive lol.
What will happen at appointment & might I get some treatment straight away or have to wait weeks?
I've has bloods checked & hubby had SA done - all ok - altho only 16 mil sperm but dic said that's fine.
Any help/advice would be great xxx

Don't know where you are, but this is my UK-based experience.
First FS appointment: a nurse weighed and measured me and calculated my bmi which was passed on to the NURSE who I then had my appointment with. They took notes on how long we'd been trying and checked what we'd been doing, but said not to get hung up on temping etc. She was really grateful for the fact that I'd taken all my blood work notes with me, which I'd requested from my doctors. They then confirmed from these that we were 'unexplained'. She looked at OH's SA and confirmed this was fine. Explained the next steps: I'd have further blood work done through the hospital (some repeats, some extra that they like to have) and also they would book me in for an ultrasound and dildo-cam to check my inner workings. Hubby was to repeat his SA - only because they have to have 2 samples as standard.
I would then receive an appointment for 4-6 months time to meet with a consultant, assuming I hadn't fallen pg.

Well I had the blood work and scans done which all came back fine. OH did SA which was fine and I had my 2nd appointment 2 weeks back. He confirmed that the extra investigations had come back fine and said they'd refer for ivf at the 3 year mark (which is into the new year). He also said in the meantime they'd do an hsg to check my tubes, which is scheduled for Tuesday. So that's my experience, but it varies within the UK and will be completely different if you're outside of the UK.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the uk so that was very helpful.
Thank u xxx

Hi, im in the uk too,

Before we went to fs my DH had 2 SA's done and were about the same as yours, well one was 13ml the other was 15ml and other counts were ok.

Went to see fs, first appointment:

Had internal swabs taken to check for infection
Urine sample given
Weight/height/BMI taken
Had internal examination
Was given blood test form for CD21 bloods but told to this when I think Im a week away from AF as have cycles 45-75 days, I ended up doing this CD43 and got AF CD48 so was close!
Was told would be sent an appointment in post for transvaginal scan (already had one about a year ago which was ok but obviously had to be done again under fs

Was then asked to make an appointment to see fs again in 5 weeks time after doing blood test and scan.

Went back 5 weeks later for next appointment I had arranged the day of first appointment, and he said progesterone results were borderline, scan had shown a polyp and an ovarian cyst which could be a sign of endometriosis which I suspected due to heavey painful periods.
He said hes going to refer me for a laparoscopy and at the same time do hysteroscopy to remove the polyp as can interfere with implantation and also do hsg at the same time. I guessed this is what he would say though which im quite glad about them doing everything in one hit and hopefully if endo there they can clear it at the same time.

Ive also had more blood test forms for progesterone and had to do blood tests on days 21,28,35 until I get AF, then I have to do blood test between days 2-4, I can feel AF on way though so wont have to do the progesterone ones anymore, thank god, done the last one today and have a horrid bruise from it!

My DH also has to do 2 more samples 6 weeks as his last ones were a while ago.

Im now waiting for appointment for laparoscopy to come through which I think will probably be november time then ive got follow up appointment with fs on 28th december so should know everything by then

I dont think they will think your being silly taking your charts, its all helpful, I was keeping charts when went to GP with AF symptoms etc and he scanned them in computer to go with my notes so its all helpful

Good luck for tomorrow, you will be fine! xxx
