FSH test for IVF

Just another quick question from me lol

I seem to be reading quite a lot about needing an FSH test at approx CD2/3 before an IVF cycle can begin. My IVF appointment is in less than 2 weeks and I'm expecting AF any day now.

Is it worth my while getting this done by my G.P as she has done all the other tests for me? Just don't want one little test holding the whole thing up! Or does that depend on the protocol again??

Our clinic has asked that we have it re-done as it must be performed in the past 6 months prior to your IVF cycle.

Does your clinic do long or short protocol? Might be worth giving them a call and asking them if you need a CD3 test as you are due anyday and see what they say? it all depends whether they are going to start at the consultation or whether they are going to book a future date to commence treatment?xx

Hey Mrs R, my gp wouldn't do an lh/fsh for me even though i would need one once i got to the fertility clinic. Now ive been to the fertility clinic i have to arrange an LH/FSH test when a/f comes next.

I don't suppose there is any harm in asking if your gp can do one before hand although the FS might want you to do another one or other tests before ivf.... sorry i'm not sure exactly where you are with regards to ivf have you been for your 1st consultation and now going for ivf or are you at the investigation stage to see whats wrong.

ive just read up a few of your other posts and see that you need ivf but have decided to go private.

I also see your gp is very helpful so i would definitely phone up the gp and see if they can arrange this test for you.

If you are going private then i should imagine they will book you in and once results are back you can go! go! go! If you don't want the delay of waiting for CD3 due to long cycles i vote call them... and that could be here before crimbo!

p.s. our bloods were done 3 weeks ago and my cycle won't be starting until Feb time....

Hi Mrs R

You might find that CARE want an AMH test instead of CD3 test. The results 'apparently' are more reliable, and the blood can be drawn at any stage in your cycle. Not long to go now!!

I have heard of the AMH test Maz, that would make more sense. I think that's what Origin told me they would do?? If AF does arrive, I'll give Care a call and see what they say?

Rachelle, why do u have to wait so long between bloods and treatment? I'll have exploded if i have to wait that long!

Not long to go is right, but I'm so impatient it feels like a hundred years !! Only a week or so til you start sticking yourself again Maz....... fingers crossed it's 3rd time lucky for u
