Anyone else? I'm so down about it. I've gained 17lbs already, and I LOST weight in first tri from hyperemesis. So I'm gaining at a stupid rate. I just feel the need to eat all the time. I still get nauseous at 22 weeks and throw up randomly a few times a week. And I still have the horrible taste in my mouth so end up eating to get rid of it.

I don't want to keep gaining like this. I don't know what to do. :(

I think ive just accepted now I'm going to gain weight. I am the same as you, I am 26 weeks and still throw up randomly and have that horrible taste in my mouth so feel like I'm eating loads and drinking way too much fizzy pop!!
I had hyperemisis too in the first tri and so have gained about 12 pound since. Tbh I feel like there is nothing I can do, I feel too poorly not too eat anything as I need to get rid of the horrible taste.
I figure after baby is here I can worry then but I do feel conflicted in my head!! Hugs hun, it's hard

I feel huge aswell. I keep blaming it on because its my 2nd everyone says u gain more with ur 2nd! Thats my excuse. Lol. But i hardly ppitut anything on with my first and it went as soon as i had her. So i know its not going to happen this time round and im going to find it hard.
What u eating most days?

Also when i was being sick all the time i ate loads of bread crumpets etc that didnt help.

My Bradley method birthing classes focus on a high protein diet (80-100 grams of protein a day)...ever since I started that I have felt much less like I need to eat all the carbs. I still have hungry days here and there, but much less often and usually following a day that I got a lot of exercise. My weight gain has plateaued (for now) and I'm eating so much good, healthy food!

Thanks I'll try this, what sort of things and how much do you eat for your protein? I'm probably low as husband is veggie so we don't eat much meat or fish day to day.

I personally don't think that's too much weight. But I understand it's your body and you feel how you feel. If you think about it... You're over half way through your pregnancy and if you doubled that weight gain you'd only be alittle over 30 lbs gained all together. That's a really typical weight gain.

I don't think that's a crazy amount either. I bet you look great! But I do understand.

Doing the Bradley method here too, LOTS of protein. LOTS.

Greek yogurt is my trick. Fills me up, it's yummy, comes in flavors. I eat two a day usually. Almonds, hummus, cheese, all good protein things.

(I always do full fat dairy as much as possible, i think that helps too even though people tend to assume the opposite)

Spinach, broccoli, eggs, avocado, baked potato, pumpkin seeds, chickpeas... also good protein sources.

As far as knowing how much each thing you eat has... I just google it really. And I don't actually keep exact track. I just eat a TON of protein and try to make choices that are protein high.

Oh gosh I've gained that at 19 weeks lol! My midwife and Doctor aren't concerned at all. I go by the pound per week estimate. If you were at a normal BMI than you're fine! Just stick with eating protein, healthy fats(avocado, coconut milk, nut butters etc) at each meal. Eat carbs of course but have sweet potatoes or potatoes rather than bread etc.
Also fruit tons of veggies etc! In general just clean eating without processed high sugar foods.
Your body will gain what it needs;)

When I was pregnant with DD, I had one month where I gained a ton of weight (and got told off by the midwife as she thought I was over-eating which I don't think I was) & then another month where I gained 0.5kg so it actually leveled out in the end...Ok, I was probably a couple of kilos 'over' the ideal weight but it did come off fast enough.

Apart from the dietary tips, I would suggest walking as much as you can though as that helped me towards the end of my last pregnancy to keep the weight gain reasonable.

I'm up 20 pounds and I could care less! There's no freakin way I'm calorie counting while pregnant lol. Thanks but no. I'll save that for when it's really time to work out and crack down on weight loss post partum. I'm a slim girl but I gain a lot pregnant but I loose it all anyway so it really doesn't matter to me. I actually enjoy eating wtv I want I think that's one of the perks of pregnancy ;) every other time I'm calorie counting, not now :)

I don't calorie count, just protein count. Like Lues I eat a lot of greek yogurt, tuna (just a couple times a week), I got some safe-for-pregnancy protein powder (Jay Robb), chicken for dinners (with whatever veggies I can stomach), and eggs for breakfast. Sometimes shrimp for dinner. The rest of the food I just try to make as close to "natural" as possible. Lots of fruits, salads, sweet potatoes, etc. I have at least one processed thing a day and sometimes it's just cereal (cheerios are my favorite right now) but it really hits the spot! Portion controlled ice cream sandwiches or a donut here and there too. If I'm not feeling eggs then I have oatmeal with peanut butter on top in the mornings.

Interesting! I do eat a high protein diet with lots of eggs and meat! I don't generally crave much unhealthy foods and instead meat, eggs and dairy at times.

I did gain over 20lbs at 23 weeks though but I eat high calorie and fat in general! Though it was not visible really. I looked 2, 3 lbs heavier maybe which was welcome.

OP I would say if you don't look like you're getting really heavy I would not worry! :)

Im worried about the same thing happening, this awful taste in my mouth just makes me want to eat all day :( Im trying to just have chewing gum now to take it away. Im 4lbs lighter than I was at booking in appt, due to being sick for last 4 months, but the sickness seems to have stopped now so scared its all going to start piling on now and I do not need to be any heavier!! I have a GD test in April, dreading that too because i can't stop eating crap!

I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks, but last I checked I went from 4lb gain to 12lb total gain!! I'm all belly though (and boobs) so really not worried about losing it after he's here.
Like PP said, we're halfway so if we gain another 12lbs it's between the 25-30lbs average gain ;)

Btw I'm eating whatever I want...lots of junk food really, pizza, mac n cheese, etc but I never was a great eater and didn't feel like changing lol plus I had hypermesis so ate whatever could stay down.
I'll slap my doctors if they say anything negative about my weight!!

Laila44 I love your attitude! I feel the same way.
I also worry about gaining 15 pounds at 22 weeks and I look at all the weight gain threads, LOL, but let me just say last pregnancy I gained 35 pounds and had a rather small baby (7 pounds, 1 ounce), and the weight did come off eventually. I never ever dieted while pregnant or breastfeeding and don't intend to this time.
If you're craving protein you might be anemic... last time I craved meat, especially ground beef (spaghetti with meat sauce!) and could honestly eat a pile of cooked ground beef and think it was delicious. Turns out I was severely anemic and was only diagnosed in the 3rd tri.
I guess my point is that your body wants things for a reason. The high-protein diet totally makes sense though I'm also loving crunchy food like apples and pickles.
And if anyone shames me for eating a piece of home-baked dessert every night with my little girl (chocolate banana brownies yesterday), I will slap them. :)

Amen girl! My first I gained 75 pounds!!! Lol my second 55! And I'm a slim fit girl normally a size 6. I never deprived myself while pregnant, what's the point? Post partum bodies are nasty anyway lol not like it makes a difference. For me 9 months post partum and I'm thinner than pre pregnancy, wearing Victoria secret bikinis ;) albeit I work out and eat well it does come off. I just saw Lots of my friends calorie count while pregnant and honestly it made me sad! If u want that ice cream go ahead man! U deserve it. Only time when u get to eat what u want when u want I say screw the scale :hugs:

I lost almost 90lbs before getting pregnant and putting on 20lbs again at only 23 weeks has me in tears...I honestly hate the way I am gaining....I know it is all for baby but I hate seeing the number go up and up...I was hoping to only gain 30-35lbs this pregnancy so I hope that I can do that haha
