General chatter while we wait (and commentary on the "pull out method")

@gigglebox I'm sorry she can't be happy about it! My parents love their grandkids (I also have two siblings and they have eight grandkids so far) but my husband's in the middle of a career change so they'll probably think it's irresponsible. Which is fair enough, it would be better if his situation was already sorted, but I'm 32 so I can't wait five years or whatever and guarantee that I can still have more so it is what it is!! And worst case scenario, he could stay home because I already have a career so it isn't a huge deal.

@Jules8 that's so funny you leave the gifts on the porch hahaha I love it

ugh that's so rude! I'm sorry about that reaction, that's harsh. Yeah on my first phone call with my mom about it I said I'd be having a c-section and probably getting my tubes tied during it, and she said something along the lines of, "I wasn't going to bring it up but I think that's a good idea." I mean...it's kind of insulting really! But she's much more positive now. Really the first phone conversation was the worst.

I don't think it's irresponsible if you all have a plan in mind. And absolutely -- time waits for no one! It's lovely to wait until absolute ideal circumstances are reached but that's a long time goal, if attainable at all, and your age doesn't really care about your planning.

Jules I love that presents go on the porch lol.

Yes and also if you are interested in history it's a good perspective, people used to get by on much less than we have even now during a recession etc.

I would never want to get my tubes tied because my mother had a terrible experience with that surgery, it made her periods unbearably bad apparently! I don't know if that's common but she told me not to get it done it was so bad for her.

I’ve heard that can happen, but unfortunately i don’t have any other option. I’m against hormonal birth control but even if i wasn’t, it doesn’t work on me. I was on it for years and it doesn’t stop my ovulation, so I bled for withdrawal bleeding but then again for my period. I tried the depo shot and bled for 4 months straight. My uterus is shaped oddly and because of it I can’t get an iud. That leaves condoms which aren’t as reliable as I’d like and they irritate hubby…and then withdrawal method combined with NFP which worked for 14ish years until now haha

What about that ablation thing?? One of my friends did that. But admittedly I don't know much about it

I don't think that's for birth control, that's for reducing heavy periods. Also from what I've read, it doesn't reduce your risk of pregnancy necessarily but does increase your chance of miscarriage. Not something I'd opt for!

Honestly I wish I could just opt for a partial hysterectomy as I'd be perfectly happy no longer having a period....but alas.

Hello all, sorry, been busy. My papa is doing well and is at rehab getting physical therapy.

Sorry about the subpar reactions to pregnancy reveals. The only time I think it’s acceptable not to react enthusiastically if if mom is like on drugs/CPS has taken prior kids/mom is in a super abusive relationship and you know the kid is gonna get abused, etc. Someone who already has a few kids (or a lot of kids) having another kid is normal, and all babies should be celebrated.

AFM had my positive OPK yesterday at 12:30 am, though I’m sure it would’ve been positive the previous day in the afternoon if I had taken one, but I was visiting family when I noticed EWCM. Had abdominal cramping yesterday evening and a temp spike this morning, so I thought I got no BD in, but now I’m having right sided sharp pain and I wonder if my right ovary is releasing an egg as well. Plan to BD tonight. Maybe I’ll catch an extra eggo? But I figure it’s more likely not.

did I miss something shae?? Is hubby now ntnp???? I was thinking of you this morning, actually it's why I'm on right now, I was hoping you'd update with some good news. So glad to hear your gramps is doing better!

Good luck with catching that eggo!

Well, no. We only BD’d because per my temp spike and original cramping, I was 24 hours out from O. I’m just hoping for an extra miracle eggo lol. But very unlikely.

Oh haha! I had wondered the same. Good luck anyways! It’s just a few months before hubby will be onboard with ntnp also right? Otherwise how have you been?
@gigglebox how many weeks are you now & are you feeling?

Yes, just a few months as long as all goes well! Ideally I would like to wait 3 months after starting a new job so that I qualify for short term disability when I give birth (you have to work at a company for a year to qualify, at least everywhere I’ve worked). Our plan is, if he is able to get the computer job, that’s amazing, we’ll have to move, and once he feels semi-comfortable at the job and not like he has zero clue what he’s doing, we can start TTC. If he fails the training and doesn’t get the computer job, our plan is to move back to where we lived previously, we adored living there in comparison, and he will get a job near there. If he can just find a job that pays at least $20 an hour, we should be able to afford rent.

Sounds like a great plan!! My brother is doing the same thing right now as your hubby, he left his old career that he was unhappy with and taught himself to code and he just started a new programming job. I think it's awesome. And my hubs is starting a new career now too. I think this is pretty common these days

I think I'm 1 dpo but not entirely sure as I didn't temp and feeling kind of sick! Blargh
