GeordieGirl's wedding journal
:wedding:

I've been engaged since April 2012 and only in the last few days we've decided to plan to get married for August 2014. So I've decided to start a wedding journal :happydance:

I'm almost 21 and my fiance is 25, the wedding is set (so far) for the 9th of August, a day before my fiance's 27th birthday.

We met in August 2009 and became a couple in the November. We were together for eight months and sadly we broke up. I added him again on facebook just over a year after we split. We've been together ever since and decided to move in together just 3 months later! We are very impulsive :haha:

We've been happily (back) together now for a year and seven months. We've been trying to conceive our first for 11 months now so were giving it a break (ntnp) and focusing on the wedding and our honeymoon in Florida just a month later.

We have a very small budget of no more than four thousand. It would of been ten thousand but we're paying almost five grand for our holiday which wasn't planned as a honeymoon, we planned our holiday first. Our wedding will only be 25 guests during the day and 50-80 at the evening, so a very small wedding! I've also got to loose 60lbs for our big day, starting from today!

Stalking :)
Congratulations on setting a date, can't wait to hear all your plans!

You should be able to have a lovely wedding for $4k! We are having 33guests and ours is coming to right around $5k. We are have a fancy sit down dinner at a gorgeous upscale restaurant too. We aren't skipping on the cake or photographer or anything either :winkwink: Congrats! We were engaged for 3 yrs before our wedding this April. We kept trying to plan but life happens and it wasn't working. I think an August wedding sound great!

Thanks everyone :)

My sister has offered me to wear her wedding dress, it cost her £1000 when she bought in 2005. It's beautiful but it's not something I would of chose myself. I've tried it on and I can't fault it at all, it's just not a dress that would of caught my eye. I'll post a picture below.

This is something like I wanted, but with more crystals on the top.. very over the top :haha:

I'm not sure what to do! It'll save us quite a bit of money to wear the other dress, and it's not like I don't like it. But I'm only planning on doing this once so I want it to be perfect :dohh:

Out of the two dresses? Which one would you go for personally? I'm completely torn between the two! x

Nobody can tell you which dress you should wear, its how you will feel in it hun. Go on ebay and type in wedding dress and it will bring up dresses from China really cheap, do your research into the seller and fees and things because you will maybe get one for really cheap (and it would make your day!) xx

I was thinking the same. For the second style you can get similar ones so cheaply, and you could always add most crystals if that's your thing.

And it would be so easy to add sparkle to them.

Thank you!

I really like the first one, and for only £64!

Please be careful ordering offline from China. I used to sell wedding gowns and we would have girls come into the shop with their dresses to search for veils etc. and they def got what they paid for. Cheap fabrics, embellishments sewn on poorly and a horrible fit. I know it works for many girls but just be careful because a lot of them get scammed :winkwink: I really like the second dress! Reminds me of a dress we used to sell that was gorgeous! I almost got it for my wedding dress!

Oh wow! That is gorgeous! Now that's just what I want! <3

Have you talked to a dress maker? That would be really easy for a seamstress to throw together for you and I'm sure inexpensive because you can buy the sequined material rather than attach every little sparkle.

I have a woman on my facebook who makes custom dresses, I've asked her how much she charges but she got back to me saying it depends on the size and style I want. She sells dresses she's made aswell and the most expensive one was £280 and it was lovely. Very sparkly and over the top, just like I want!

I'm thinking of giving her my measurements and telling her exactly what I want just to get a rough idea so I have a price in mind.

Also if your sister was letting you wear it would she let you change it ? If she would you could always add more sparkle to it :)

I could do. She says I can do anything I want with it, at first she didn't want me too but she's 5'7 and I'm only 5'2 so it'll have to be taken up a bit anyway :)

Tbh I don't think it would look right if you added more sparkles like you want. The dress flows like one piece. It doesn't seem to have an actual waist line separation so I think it would look like two dresses sewn together. I know it's not what you want to hear because you really want to be married in time but...

Don't Settle!!! :haha::haha::haha:

As a bride who has been planning her wedding for 3+ yrs do and get what you want! I wasted so much money thinking I was doing what was best and being frugal with things but I ended up very unhappy, actually downright miserable! :dohh: I've completely turned thngs around and I am in love with my wedding even if it is very small and simple :happydance:
