Just after some personal experience on how you found out you had this?
My cousins girlfriend realised she had it when she was thirsty all the time which is exactly how I'm feeling right now!
I don't think I'll be having the test for diabetes as I don't have any risk factors but maybe I should request it?
Thanks x

I haven't had it but have been tested every time, I think everyone here is tested at 28 weeks whether they've had signs or not, I'm in the South east so not sure whether that would make a difference or not :)

Sugar in my urine on the dipstick thing I do every visit with the midwife, also my fundal height shot up very quickly. I had it with my daughter.

It's a good idea to ask your doctor if you're concerned, but it's pretty normal to be very thirsty while pregnant. My doctor also does a quick urine dipstick that looks at sugar (among other things) at every appointment, and it is standard practice to do a glucose tolerance test somewhere around 25ish weeks.

Gestational diabetes is an "equal opportunity" complication that can strike regardless of risk factors, so it is pretty common to test for it.

I had it with my son but wasn't diagnosed until 36 weeks! I had requested to be tested much earlier but I was told that there was no need as I had no markers for it. This time around I have been on insulin since 15 weeks

I am thirsty all the time and have been throughout the entire pregnancy. I was tested a few weeks ago and I don't have GD. So that's not a reliable indicator. I know a lot of women who have been shocked when they get diagnosis, so I don't think that there are a lot of indicators. Then again, I could be wrong.
