Getting cycle right after Mirena

Can anyone offer any guidance here please.

Had Mirena in for 3.5yrs and removed on 10th June as we're TTC #2.

BD'd on 12th, 14th, 16th and 19th June just for fun more than anything.

Have been using OPKs since 17th out of curiosity as I have no idea where I am in my cycle, all negative, and have had no AF since removal (or while on it tbh).

I have had nausea, cramps, fatigue and the worst sore boobs ever since 15th June but am guessing this is too early for pregnancy and that I'm going through the Mirena crash.

How long did it take others to get to grips with their cycle after Mirena? I'm really impatient and having waited almost a year for my DH to agree to having another I just want to get started!!

I know many women who got pregnant immediately after the Mirena was removed. The reduction of hormones can spark quick ovulation. Maybe you got lucky! However, usually, OPKs will be positive if you are pregnant but your HCG could still be low.

Of course it's also possible you will get your first AF without ovulating.

I know - frustrating, right?

Hi i get my Mirena taken out on Monday and my GP told me too expect fertility too come back immediately, however for me ive had period every month since being on it, very light tho and still get OV pains on 12/13/14 cycle days so will br interesting too see what happens. We are NTNP for first few months too see if my cycles stay ok amd im ready with OPK's too test for definite OV. I think every woman is just so different tho!

Thank you for making this thread. I'll be removing my mirena soon (January the latest as we want to start TTC in March and my gyno men told me to wait two cycles for the lining to get thick again) so it will be good to get others experiences.

I just had my mirena removed on 22 June... had very light period for about 3 days after and my temps have not indicated any ovulation... however we have been bd'ing quite often (also mostly for fun)

But I have sore boobs and a slight weight gain... don't know if its from the loss of the hormones or what.

So glad I found this thread before starting my own... hoping that my cycles get regular after this first month. My temps are kind of all over the place... but no spike as of yet. If I go by my previous cycles, I should see a rise tomorrow thru Thursday, so we are dtd just to see what happens.

I think I'm going too start testing for OV with OPK's from tomorrow, we are suppose too be using the pull out method but have a weekend coming up with no children and maybe a little vino or 2 so we may forget! Hee hee and going by my due OV dates that would be perfect timing

Would love to have a group going.. What brand/type of OPK do you use? I haven't ever used them before but thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea since I haven't been temping while having mirena, so the extra test might help my piece of mind. As of today still no rise, hoping to OV this month tho!!!

Sorry I've not responded to any of these posts earlier.

Quick update from me, very short bleed two weeks after removal, lots of BD and for the last few weeks feeling many pregnancy symptoms. The worst one has been for a week now.... The worst painful boobs. I'm talking rocks. Hurts to even have clothes touch them. Yet no bfp. Taken half a dozen tests over the last week. Nothing. Also taken opks just in case it's that. Nothing. Grrrr.

Well I got a disapointing visitor last tuesday. Lots of symptoms and no BFP...

Going to try the SMEP this cycle, so there will be a lot of happening soon in my house!!

Sorry to hear that Mrscletus. Sorry to sound dumb, but what is SMEP?

I think I'm out too. Been getting all the pg symptoms but yes today had some dark brown spotting which I thought was the start of af. It disappeared after a few hours and hasn't come back but test was stark white this morning and I'm on cd32 so probably too late for a bfp to come. On the plus side I have a wedding tomorrow so at least I know I can have a few drinks!

Time to plan for this month I think.

Don't feel stupid I had to ask about SMEP as well. It's called sperm meets egg plan.. Basically a lot of timed bd'ing.. And a lot of OPK. Start having sex every other day from cd8 on.. Starting O testing at cd10 and when you get a positive OPK bd for 3 days straight, take a a day off and then do it once more.
So I'm on cd9.. DTD last night and started testing for ovulation today (a day early) but I don't want to miss O.. And with my cycles being all weird after mirena I would rather be safe than sorry!

Just want to check in and see how everyone is doing...

AFM- lots of watery CM, faint lines (but getting darker) on the OPK... and a lot of DH is loving it... the every other day thing is exciting for him...

And I am feeling much more confident in this cycle, I think my body is quickly readjusting to NOT having that implant in there... Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. FX that i will get my +OPK and cross hairs this weekend!!
