Getting Married Before Wedding

Have any of you gotten married or planned on getting married before you have your actual wedding, due to financial reasons or time constraints? OH and I are getting married in April, so that we can live together and so I can receive his benefits while he's in school for the Navy. We'd like to have our wedding later in the year, but because of money issues, the fact that he's leaving in May, and family drama, we can't have it now.

We are! But only 5 days before. We want to have a ceremony in the garden at my parents place in Jersey, but because we live in the UK it's tricky so we're doing it legally here on the Monday and then having the wedding on the Saturday!

My husband and I did that also! I am glad that we waited. Our wedding was wonderful after we saved the money for it! I almost forgot to include we did have a small celebration when we got married though. It included the preacher and a few friends and close family.
